This is a new twist (to me) on a green bean recipe. We love green beans and eat them many ways, but I was excited when my mother shared this with me this summer. My daughter and I devoured the dish. She now considers this a new favorite at Thanksgiving and Christmas and she makes the request often!

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 large 28 oz. cans of italian flat green beans
1/2 pkg bacon
1 c brown sugar
1 c melted butter
1 Tbsp minced garlic
2 Tbsp soy sauce

Steps:

  • 1. Drain both cans of beans.
  • 2. Dice bacon into 1/2 inch pieces.
  • 3. Place beans in 13x9 baking dish.
  • 4. Sprinkle uncooked bacon over beans. Set aside.
  • 5. In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar, melted butter, garlic and soy sauce until well blended. Pour mixture over bacon and beans.
  • 6. Bake at 375 degrees 45 minutes to one hour.

How to make Unbundled Green Beans

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 (14.5-ounce) cans whole green beans, drained (cut green beans work, too)
1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon
1 (1 to 1.25-ounce) packet onion soup mix
1/2 cup water

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F and lightly spray an 8x8-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Pour the green beans and crumbled bacon in a large bowl.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the onion soup mix and water. Pour it over the beans and bacon and lightly toss to coat.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared dish and bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until the beans are heated through.
