This was my great grandma's recipe from the 40's and earlier. Its so easy to make. I remember this being my favorite dessert from when I was a child. This is delicious when hot and served with ice cream or I enjoy it cold by itself. Enjoy!

1 (29 ounce) can sliced peaches in juice, drained, reserving juice
1 cup self-rising flour
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
½ cup butter, melted

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Arrange peach slices in a 9-inch round baking dish. Pour about half the reserved peach juice on top; discard remaining juice. Beat egg, flour, and sugar in a bowl until combined; pour over peaches. Drizzle melted butter over flour mixture.
  • Bake in preheated oven until golden brown, about 45 minutes.

Top layer
1 can 29oz peaches
2 Tablespoons flour
1/2 Cup sugar
Bottom layer
1/2 Cup butter
1 Cup self rising Flour (make sure it is self rising flour)
1 Cup sugar
1 Cup milk

Steps:

  • Top layer 1. Mix the peaches, flour and sugar in a cooking pan 2. Cook on stove pot until it thickens (about 1 minute after it starts boiling) 3. Set aside Bottom layer 1. Melt butter in baking dish 2. Stir in flour, sugar and milk 3. Mix well (may be slightly lumpy) 4. Add the peaches mixture on top 5. Spread evenly 6. Bake at 450F for 35 to 40 minutes or until golden brown 7. Serve hot or cold

1 stick butter, unsalted
1 c granulated sugar
1 c flour, all purpose
1 c whole milk
1 tsp baking powder
1 can(s) sliced cling peaches (large 29 oz can)

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a 4 quart oven proof dish, melt oleo.
  • 2. mix flour, sugar, baking powder and milk together. Add melted butter to mixture and blend well. Pour batter back into baking pan. Pour peaches (with syrup) over the ingredients. (Do not stir)
  • 3. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm. Great served with whipped cream or ice cream.

¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 (15 ounce) can peaches in heavy syrup
1 ½ cups white sugar, divided
½ cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup milk
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 pinch salt

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Place 1/2 cup butter in a casserole dish.
  • Place casserole dish in the preheating oven until butter is melted. Remove.
  • Mix remaining 1/4 cup butter, peaches, 1/2 cup white sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract together in a bowl. Spread over melted butter in the casserole dish.
  • Mix remaining 1 cup white sugar, milk, flour, baking powder, and salt together in a bowl to make a smooth batter. Pour over peach mixture.

My grandmother used this recipe every summer when the peaches were ripe. She got the recipe from her church cookbook. You can use any almost any kind of fruit in the cobbler, it will still be good.

1/4 cup melted butter
1 cup flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 cup milk
5 -6 peaches, sliced
3/4 cup sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Pour melted butter into an 8x8 pan.
  • Whisk together the flour, 3/4 cup of sugar, baking powder and milk.
  • Pour over melted butter.
  • Cover with peach slices.
  • Cover with 3/4 cup sugar (I know this will seem like a lot, but use it all.).
  • Bake until batter rises to top and forms a nice brown crust, about 20 - 30 minutes.
