A tangy and sweet barbecue sauce that is absolutely perfect for ribs, pulled pork or chicken. It's the result of trial and error over several years and many batches of sauce. I'm sure 99% of you will like it (or LOVE it)!

2 tablespoons butter
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup orange juice
1 cup cider vinegar
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 lemon slices
1 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
2 cups ketchup
1/4 cup molasses
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons dry mustard
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon paprika

Steps:

  • Melt butter in a 2 quart sauce pan. Add onion and garlic and cook 6 or 7 minutes until soft. Add remaining ingredients and simmer 45 minutes to one hour.

½ medium onion, diced
¼ cup lemon juice
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon ground paprika
1 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon chili powder
1 pinch ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Mix ketchup, water, onion, lemon juice, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, chili powder, and pepper together in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes.

1 cup real maple syrup
¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
2 cups ketchup
¼ cup molasses
¼ cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons dry mustard
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
½ teaspoon ground cumin
½ teaspoon paprika

Steps:

  • Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic; cook and stir until tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in the orange juice, cider vinegar, lemon juice, lemon slices, maple syrup, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, molasses, and brown sugar. Season with dry mustard, salt, red pepper flakes, cumin and paprika. Simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Remove lemon slices before using.n
