CHOCOLATE CARAMEL FONDUE

Chocolate Caramel Fondue image

Another recipe I adapted from a local fondue restaurant. This is comforting in winter and yet goes perfect with fresh summer fruits. Also a great way to serve dessert at a dinner party. One year for our neighbors for Christmas we layered all the ingredients substituting marshmallows for the marshmallow cream and w/o the cream in fancy gift bags. We tied it with ribbon and a tag explaining how to finish the recipe. What a hit!!!

Time 10m

Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

Two 4-ounce good quality semi-sweet chocolate bars
One 15.85-ounce jar prepared dulce de leche (about 1 1/3 cups)
Kosher salt

DULCE DE LECHE FONDUE

Dulce de Leche Fondue image

This Latin inspired milk caramel fondue is made the old fashioned ay, with real sugar and cream instead of canned milk and with a healthy dose of rum. use it for dunking strawberries, melon, banana or pineapple chunks, mango, apple, store bought pirouette cookies, or bite size cubes of pound cane or semi frozen banana nut...

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 cup sugar
2 cups heavy cream, heated
1/4 cup dark rum or 2 tsp. vanilla extract
dash salt

Steps:

  • 1. In medium pan, mix the sugar and 1/4 cup of water. Cook over medium low heat, stirring til sugar dissolves. Increase heat to medium and cook without stirring, swirling the pan and occasionally brushing down the sides with a wet pastry brush to remove any sugar crystals, til syrup turns a medium dark amber, about 3 minutes.
  • 2. Carefully pour in the warm cream, stirring til caramel is dissolved and smooth. The cram will bubble up. Stir in rum and salt. Increase heat to medium high and boil, stirring occasionally til caramel cream or dulce de Leche is smooth and thick enough to coat the back of a spoon, about 10 minutes.
  • 3. Carefully transfer to a ceramic or enameled cast iron fondue pot. Regulate the heat under the pot, if possible, so that the fondue remains warm, not hot. Serves 6 to 8 or makes 2 cups.

DULCE DE LECHE - FUDGE-LIKE VANILLA CARAMEL - IT'S SINFULLY WOND

Dulce De Leche - Fudge-Like Vanilla Caramel - It's Sinfully Wond image

Good thing Eve didn't have this to dip her apple into or we'd be in a lot of trouble. This is Sinfully, yummy, rich, dreamy & creamy. Great for GODDESS parties! Use to dip rims of martini glasses, top your favorite ice cream. Or if with your favorite someone use as body paint. Caramel is a passion in Argentina, where dulce de leche is originated. This is made in an entirely different manner, then we are used to. Sweet milk (sweetened, condensed milk) is simmered until it becomes thick and golden brown. The resulting caramel has a sweet, milky flavor and a thick, fudge-like texture. This is what dulce de leche ice cream is all about. Try caramel cheesecake. Or use like a fondue by dipping cookies or fruit into it. It's time consuming but very easy. Can be made plain or flavored with vanilla bean (you can see the specks of beans in the pictures) or citrus zest. Try instant coffee/espresso, chocolate, coconut endless possibilities.
