1 center cut ham steak, 1 inch thick, fully cooked
1/2 cup ginger ale
1/2 cup orange juice
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon oil
1 1/2 teaspoons red wine vinegar
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

Steps:

  • Cut slashes in the fat edge of the ham and place in a shallow dish.
  • Combine ginger ale, orange juice, brown sugar, oil, vinegar, mustard, ginger, and cloves and mix thoroughly.
  • Pour marinade over ham. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  • Grill over hot coals for 10-15 minutes on each side, brushing frequently with marinade.

If you marinate while you are at work (I come home at lunch to turn the ham), you can have a great grilled meal in minutes on a weeknight. Kids like this too, making it a plus!

2 3/4 lb slice fully cooked ham (about 1 inch thick)
1/2 c ginger ale
1/2 c orange juice
1/4 c firmly packed brown sugar
3 Tbsp white wine vinegar
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp vegetable oil
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/8 tsp ground cloves

Steps:

  • 1. Score the fat on the ham slice. Place the ham slice in a large shallow dish.
  • 2. Combine the ginger ale and remaining ingredients; stir well. Pour the marinade mixture over the ham slice. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for 8 hours, turning once.
  • 3. Remove the ham slice from the marinade, reserving the marinade.
  • 4. Grill, covered, over medium coals for 8 to 10 minutes on each side. Make sure your coals are not too hot!. Baste the ham slice frequently with the reserved marinade.
