- Place apples in a large saucepan and just barely cover with water. Simmer over medium-low heat until apples are tender, 15 to 20 minutes.
- Run cooked apples through a food mill or blender. Stir in the sugar and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat for about 3 to 5 minutes.

- 1. Preheat oven 350 degrees. Grease a 9x13 baking pan. In large bowl SIFT flour, sugar, salt, baking soda baking powder,and cinnamon. In another bowl, mix with a mixer the oil, apple sauce and eggs. Pour mixture in the dry ingredients and mix with mixer until blended. Add nuts and stir. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 35 minutes. Cool and serve plain or with a very light dusting of powdered sugar.
