AVENA COLOMBIANA(COLOMBIAN OATMEAL DRINK)

Avena Colombiana(Colombian Oatmeal Drink) image

Avena means oats in English and it's a traditional Colombian drink that is rich, creamy and delicious. Great with breakfast or you could serve it at any time of the day. I use almond or soy milk to make this vegan. Use your preferred milk. From my columbian recipes.

FRESCAVENA-LIKE OATMEAL DRINK MIX

Frescavena-Like Oatmeal Drink Mix image

Similar to the popular Latin American drink from Quaker "Frescavena". This oatmeal based beverage is nutritious and refreshing. My 18 month old daughter loves it and after not finding it anywhere in stores I had to come up with a way to make it myself EASILY. I love this because I can keep it on hand and scoop it into a glass of milk and its ready to go!

Time 10m

Yield 2 cups, 15 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 2

8 ounces Gerber oatmeal cereal for baby
1 cup granulated sugar

Steps:

  • Empty 8 oz box of infant cereal into food processor. Using this cereal instead of rolled oats produces a finer grain that more easily dissolves in liquid, plus it is fortified with more vitamins and minerals.
  • Blend until the flakes are no longer visible and it becomes a fine powder (3-5 minutes).
  • Add sugar and blend again until it is mixed thoroughly and all the same fine powder consistency.
  • Add 2 tablespoons (add more or less to taste) of mixture to 8 ounces of milk or water and blend in a blender or shaker cup with 2 ice cubes and enjoy!
  • Optional additions: add vanilla, cinnamon or strawberry quick to final beverage. Can be served as a warm beverage as well.

MY VERY OWN FRESCAVENA - OATMEAL DRINK

My Very Own Frescavena - Oatmeal Drink image

Frescavena is an oatmeal beverage very common in latinamerica. I was a bit put off by the high amounts of sugar in the commercial version, yet I liked the idea of having a creamy and nutritious quick drink for my children. This is our favourite version so far

CAFE MOCHA DRINK MIX

Cafe Mocha Drink Mix image

I have a co-worker that is addicted to those hot cafe mocha drinks...So for Christmas, last year, I decided to make them their own 'instant' mix...I even bought a 60 oz 'coffee-themed' container (that came with it's own TBSP measure) for them to store it in! A few TBSP of the 'mix' and some hot water and voila! Cafe Mocha!

TINTO DE VERANO

Tinto De Verano image

Tinto de Verano is a refreshing drink similar to Sangria. However, there are fewer ingredients in this wine based mixed drink making it much easier and quicker to put together. Tinto de Verano translates to red wine of summer. In some regions of Spain it is common for locals to drink Tinto de Verano while tourists drink sangria.
