Steps:
- Place half of the shredded cabbage in 5- to 6-quart slow cooker. Crumble ground beef over top. Sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoons salt and 1/8 teaspoons pepper. Evenly distribute chopped onion, then rice over all. Top with remaining cabbage, salt and pepper. Combine spaghetti sauce, water, basil and seasoned salt; pour over cabbage. Cover and cook on low 5 to 6 hours or until rice is tender. Makes 6 servings.

Steps:
- Put half of cabbage in slow cooker, put half of ground beef mixture over cabbage, repeat. Pour soup mixture over top. Cover and cook in 4 quart slow cooker for 3 to 4 hours on low.

My Bavarian mother-in-law convinced me that vegetables can taste awesome! Her "blaukraut" (blue cabbage) was the inspiration for this meal-in-one recipe.

Steps:
- 1. Shred cabbage (food processor is easiest) Peel & cube sweet potatoes.
- 2. Cook the sweet potatoes in a covered skillet on low heat until softened. (Add oil, butter or water as needed.)
- 3. Add sausages along with the onions to the skillet. Cook until onions are very soft. Add salt & pepper to taste.
- 4. Drain and squeeze the sauerkraut until it is dry. Fold it carefully into the skillet.
- 5. Meanwhile: Cook the shredded cabbage in a large pot with a very small bit of water until softened. Add the applesauce and stir gently until combined.
- 6. Fold everything together and serve, preferably with some German Duseldorf mustard
SLOW COOKER CABBAGE AND GROUND BEEF CASSEROLE RECIPE
Steps:
- Gather the ingredients.
- Place a large skillet over medium heat, and add about 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the ground beef and chopped onion and cook, stirring and breaking up the beef until the beef is no longer pink.
- With a slotted spoon, transfer the beef mixture to the crockery insert of your slow cooker .
- Slice cabbage into small wedges ; place on top of the ground beef.
- Mix tomatoes, sauce, and seasonings-cinnamon (if using), salt, and pepper; pour over all.
- Cover and cook on low 6 to 8 hours.
- Serve the beef and cabbage with the sauce and hot cooked rice or boiled potatoes.
