Yield Makes 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

4 8-ounce Golden Delicious apples, peeled
1/2 cup (packed) dark brown sugar
1 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/3 cup raisins
1 cup chilled heavy whipping cream, divided
4 purchased refrigerated uncooked large flaky biscuits (from 16.3-ounce tube), room temperature
1 large egg, beaten to blend

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Using melon baller, core apples, leaving bottoms intact. Place in glass pie dish, spacing apart. Microwave uncovered at 50 percent power until tender, about 10 minutes. Refrigerate 5 minutes to cool.
  • Meanwhile, mix brown sugar and cinnamon in small bowl. Transfer 3 tablespoons cinnamon sugar to small saucepan. Add raisins and 3 tablespoons heavy cream and stir over low heat until sugar dissolves. Combine 3 tablespoons cinnamon sugar and remaining heavy cream in medium bowl and whisk to peaks. Cover and refrigerate. Roll out each biscuit on floured surface to thin 8-inch round; brush lightly with egg. Place apple in center of each round; fill apples with raisin mixture, overfilling slightly. Pull 4 sides of dough up to top of apple (from 3, 6, 9, and 12 o'clock positions) and twist in center, making apple stem shape. Using fingertips, press seams tightly to seal. Transfer dumplings to baking sheet. Brush dumplings with egg; sprinkle with remaining cinnamon sugar.
  • Bake dumplings until golden, about 18 minutes. Serve with cinnamon whipped cream.

CRESCENT ROLL APPLE DUMPLINGS

Crescent Roll Apple Dumplings image

When it comes to apple desserts, it takes a lot to impress me. I'm just not a huge fan of the texture of a cooked apple, but that was before I met my friend called apple dumpling. She's warm, sweet, and a little flaky, but hey... who isn't these days!?!? Seriously, these little babies are my all-time favorite apple dessert now. They are warm, gooey, and the crunchy part with the sugar on top... good graccious! And easy - it really probably couldn't get any easier. You put some whipped cream or vanilla ice cream with these babies and prepare to be amazed.

Time 45m

Yield 16 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 (8 ounce) cans crescent roll dough (8 ct. each)
2 apples, peeled and cored
1 1/2 cups water
1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cup butter
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon cinnamon, to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Wash the apples, peel and cut into eight equal slices or segments.
  • Unwrap the crescent roll and separate the triangles.
  • Place a piece of apple on each triangle of dough (on a wider side) and roll it in a croissant. You can wrap it like a crescent roll or you can wrap the dough over the apple slice covering the whole apple (dumpling style), either way.
  • Place each dumpling in an 11 x 13-inch baking dish that has been sprayed with Pam or coated with a stick of butter.
  • In a sauce pan, combine water, butter, sugar, and vanilla and heat to a rolling boil.
  • Pour boiling mixture over the dumpling and sprinkle dumplings with cinnamon.
  • Place uncovered in 350 degree oven and bake for approximately 30 minutes, or until they become golden brown.
  • Serve immediately and top with cool whip. Or serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, mmmmm -- Ah-mazing !
  • WARNING: Prepare this dish at your own risk. It is beyond imaginable.
  • I actually cut the recipe in half unless I have a big group to serve. And then I use a square Pyrex dish when I cut it in half.

APPLE DUMPLING PUDDLE PUDDING

Apple dumpling puddle pudding image

Try these wonderfully light, fluffy dumplings baked in a pool of salted caramel apples - what's not to love? The ultimate comfort dessert for colder weather

Provided by Cassie Best

Categories     Dessert

Time 1h5m

Number Of Ingredients 11

75g butter
250g light brown soft sugar
3 tbsp golden syrup
6 dessert apples (about 750g), peeled, cored and sliced
double or clotted cream , to serve
200g self-raising flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp caster sugar
pinch ground cinnamon
100g cold butter , cubed
6 tbsp milk

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4. Melt the butter, sugar and golden syrup in a pan with 100ml water. Bring to a simmer, add the apples and cook for 10-15 mins until they're starting to soften - it will be quite saucy. Add a generous pinch of salt, taste and check the balance, adding more if you like. If your pan isn't ovenproof, pour into a baking dish about 20 x 30cm, or two smaller ones.
  • Tip the flour into a bowl. Mix with the baking powder, sugar, cinnamon and a pinch of salt. Rub the butter into the mixture with your fingertips until it resembles damp sand. Add the milk, stir with a cutlery knife until it starts to clump together, then use your hands to bring the dough together, picking up any flaky bits. Don't overwork it or your dumplings will be heavy. Divide into 12 golf ball-sized pieces and roll into dumplings. Arrange over the apples, leaving little gaps here and there. Sprinkle with a little extra sugar (brown or caster) and bake for 25 mins until the dumplings are puffed up and golden. Let rest for a few mins and serve with plenty of cold cream.
