I found this super-quick and easy shrimp recipe in a magazine years ago and have changed it to suit my taste. To speed things along, I cook the rice in the microwave, using chicken broth instead of water. I've only had compliments whenever I've served it. -Jean Gauthier, Rives Junction, Michigan

EASY CROCK-POT SHRIMP CREOLE

Easy Crock-Pot Shrimp Creole image

This is a Paula Deen recipe and it is, of course, amazing! I was surprised how easy it was! She served it over rice on her show so I did the same. I just used Minute white rice. The prep time will really depend on if your shrimp is already peeled and deveined. It really doesnt' take that long to do it yourself and the shrimp is usually cheaper that way. This truly was simple and delicios! Hope you enjoy it!

Quick & Easy Shrimp Creole image

My personal favorite. I like to serve it over Spanish rice but any rice will do. Note: I buy frozen chopped onion, peppers and celery called southern blend if I am to lazy to do all the chopping.

Time 50m

Yield 6-8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

3 tablespoons butter
2 lbs medium shrimp, peeled deveined
2 medium onions, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
3 stalks celery, chopped
3 teaspoons minced garlic
2 (10 1/2 ounce) cans condensed tomato soup, I prefer Campbells
2 (14 ounce) cans diced tomatoes, petite are best
3 bay leaves
cajun seasoning
Tabasco sauce

Steps:

  • Saute Onion, Peppers, celery and garlic in butter until they are softened up some.
  • Do not cook until they are completely done.
  • Add Tomato Soups, diced tomatoes (do not drain) and seasonings.
  • Simmer until it thickens up some and all flavors have married & veggies are soft.
  • Add shrimp at the end and cook until they turn pink. Stir to incorporate shrimp into the dish. DO NOT OVERCOOK!
  • Remove bay leaves, and serve over hot fluffy rice with french bread.
  • It is better if you don't chop the vegetables too fine.
  • You can make as spicy as you like with the seasonings.
  • If it is too thick, thin down with a little water, sometimes you need it and sometimes the veggies and shrimp thin it down enough.

GARY'S EASY SHRIMP CREOLE

Gary's Easy Shrimp Creole image

My Mother-in-Law gave this recipe to my husband, who tweaked it and made it his own. I think it is just awesome - and so easy to prepare. I beg him to make it for me when I start to go through withdrawals.

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 medium onion, chopped
1 medium red or green bell pepper, chopped
1 stock celery, chopped
2 Tbsp olive oil
1 clove garlic, minced
1 lb uncooked shrimp, peeled and devained
1/4 tsp pepper
1 jar(s) 4 oz diced pimentos
1 can(s) 10 oz diced tomatoes with green chilis
1 can(s) tomato soup
1/2 soup can filled with water
cooked white rice

Steps:

  • 1. Saute the chopped onion, pepper, and celery in olive oil over medium high heat until tender.
  • 2. Add garlic and Shrimp and cook for 2 minutes or until shrimp is just turning pink, but not fully cooked. (Over cooking the shrimp will make it tough)
  • 3. Add pepper, pimentos, canned tomatoes with their liquid, tomato soup and the 1/2 can of water. Stir all ingredients together and continue cooking for 5 minutes until bubbly and shrimp is cooked completely.
  • 4. Spoon over cooked rice and serve.
  • 5. We always use the mildest level of canned tomatoes with green chili's because they are still quite spicy. It's what gives this dish the punch it needs. We use Rotel's but any brand will do. Also if you can't find uncooked shrimp just add 1 lb of cooked, peeled shrimp right near the end just to heat it through.

EASY SHRIMP CREOLE

I found this recipe online at Taste of Home Magazine. I just love how simple it is to make. It really does have great spice...the secret is salsa! Special Note: I cook my tomato liquid longer than the time it says and add the shrimp just before I am ready to eat it.

EASY CLASSIC SHRIMP CREOLE

Easy Classic Shrimp Creole image

Shrimp Creole is an easy, classic entrée with fresh briny shrimp cooked in a spicy sauce made with tomatoes, spices, and the holy trinity.

Provided by @MakeItYours

Number Of Ingredients 17

4 Tbsp butter (unsalted)
1 cup chopped onions
1/2 cup chopped celery (about 3 small ribs)
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
5 cloves garlic (minced)
2 Tbsp flour (all-purpose)
1/4 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp granulated sugar
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1 can petite diced tomatoes (14.5 oz, with juice)
1 cup chicken broth (low sodium)
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp hot sauce (use less if you don't want it spicy, more if you like the heat)
1-1/2 lbs large shrimp (peeled and deveined with the tails removed)
1 tsp Creole seasoning (I used Tony Chachere's)
1 Tbsp green onion tops (chopped, optional garnish)
2 cups cooked white rice (cook according to the directions on the package)

Steps:

  • Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onions, celery, and green pepper. Sauté and stir for about 10 minutes or until the vegetables begin to soften.
  • Add garlic, and cook for 30 seconds, or until fragrant. Add salt, sugar, cayenne pepper, and flour; stir to combine.
  • Add diced tomatoes with juice, chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce. Bring the mixture to a boil; reduce heat, cover pan and let simmer for 30 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
  • While the tomato sauce simmers, add the Creole seasoning to the shrimp and toss to combine. Also, this is a good time to cook your rice.
  • Add the shrimp to the tomato mixture. Stir and cook for about 3-4 minutes or just until the shrimp are cooked through.
  • Serve with white rice and if desired garnish with the chopped green onion tops.
