Easy Herbed Quick Bread image

Easy Herbed Quick Bread features a delicious blend of herbs and spices in a super easy bread.

3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 teaspoons fennel or caraway seeds*
1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary*
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme*
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 large egg
1 cup (237ml) milk
1/3 cup (75g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9"x 5" loaf pan.
  • Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, seeds, spices, and salt. Make a well in the center.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and cooled butter. Add to the well in the flour mixture, and stir just until combined.
  • Transfer the batter to the prepared pan. Bake 40-50 minutes, or until a pick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, and then transfer to a wire rack to continue cooling.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature.

This aromatic bread can be served with dinner, or the dough can be used for pizza.

2 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast
2 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
2 tablespoons white sugar
¼ cup olive oil
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon dried basil
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ cup grated Romano cheese
6 cups bread flour

Steps:

  • Mix yeast, warm water, and white sugar together in a large bowl. Set aside for five minutes, or until mixture becomes foamy.
  • Stir olive oil, salt, herbs, garlic powder, onion powder, cheese, and 3 cups flour into the yeast mixture. Gradually mix in the next three cups of flour. Dough will be stiff.
  • Knead dough for 5 to 10 minutes, or until it is smooth and rubbery. Place in an oiled bowl, and turn to cover the surface of the dough with oil. Cover with a damp linen dish towel. Allow to rise for one hour, or until the dough has doubled in size.
  • Punch dough down to release all the air. Shape into two loaves. Place loaves on a greased cookie sheet, or into two greased 9 x 5 inch loaf pans. Allow to rise until doubled in size, about a 30 minutes.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 35 minutes. Remove loaves from pan(s), and let cool on wire racks for at least 15 minutes before slicing.

3 teaspoons active dry yeast
1 cup warm water (110° to 115°), divided
1 teaspoon sugar
2 tablespoons canola oil
1 teaspoon salt
2-1/2 to 3 cups all-purpose flour
TOPPING:
1/3 cup fat-free Italian salad dressing
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
Dash pepper
1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • In a bowl, dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water. Add sugar; let stand for 5 minutes. Add the oil, salt, remaining water and 2 cups of flour; beat until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough. , Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 40 minutes., Punch dough down. Turn onto a lightly floured surface. Pat dough flat. Let rest for 5 minutes. Press into a greased 14-in. pizza pan. Spread with salad dressing. Combine the garlic powder, oregano, thyme and pepper; sprinkle over dough. Top with cheeses. , Bake at 450° for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.

I've added sun dried tomatoes, fine minced garlic, different seasonings, Feta cheese - it's really up to you. I make this bread a lot, just for a snack, the kids like to dip it in warmed pizza sauce. 1 - 13 oz tube - refrigerated pizza crust
olive oil to taste
kosher salt - to taste
1 tsp fresh cracked pepper
1 tsp each - dried basil & oregano
dried thyme to taste
2 Tbsp grated parmesan

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 375 degree F. Grease a 9 inch pizza pan. Remove pizza dough from tube and shape into a disk. Spread into a 10 - 11 inch circle. Using the end of a wooden spoon, make indentation all over the dough in 3/4 inch spacing. Drizzle with desired olive oil, try to cover most of the dough lightly. Sprinkle with remaining ingredients, cheese being last.
  • 2. Place in oven and bake until golden. ( 12 - 15 ) min.
  • 3. Cut into wedges and enjoy!
