1 cup Dr. Pepper cola
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup pecan halves

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°; line a rimmed baking sheet with foil.
  • In a small saucepan, bring the Dr Pepper and butter to a boil over med-high heat.
  • Simmer until the liquid reduces by half, about 15 minutes.
  • Stir in the pecans and continue to cook until the liquid becomes a sticky glaze, 3-4 minutes.
  • Add a big pinch of salt, stir, and transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake, stirring once or twice, until toasted, about 10 minutes.

4 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons sea salt
1 to 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
4 cups pecans

Steps:

  • In a large heavy skillet, over a medium heat, warm the oil. Stir in the sugar, salt, cayenne, and pepper. Mix well, until sugar starts to melt. Add the pecans and coat thoroughly.
  • Drain the pecans on a baking sheet and cool.
  • Store in an airtight container, in the refrigerator, for up to 2 weeks.

1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup dark brown sugar
1 cup Dr. Pepper cola
4 large marshmallows
2 -3 cups nuts (pecans or walnuts)

Steps:

  • In heavy saucepan mix together sugars and Dr. Pepper.
  • Cook over low heat.
  • stirring constantly until all sugar is dissolved, then cook stirring occasionally until soft ball stage (238 degrees F) is reached.
  • Remove from heat, add marshmallows and nut meats together.
  • Beat hard for 1 to 2 minutes until mixture starts to cream.
  • Drop on wax paper in small balls, about 1 tablespoon at a time.
  • They should flatten out around the edges leaving mound of nut meats in the center.
