Dr. Pepper Chicken is the easiest main dish ever and my family absolutely LOVES it.

4-6 chicken breasts (boneless, skinless)
1/2 c Dr. Pepper
1/2 c barbecue sauce
1/2 c ketchup
1 tbsp brown sugar
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Salt and pepper chicken and arrange in a 13 x 9 baking dish.
  • Mix together 1/2 cup of Dr. Pepper, 1/2 cup of barbecue sauce and 1/2 cup of ketchup.
  • Pour it over the chicken.
  • Sprinkle with brown sugar and bake at 350 degrees uncovered for 1 hour.
  • Serve with rice.

1 1/2 c. ketchup
1 c. Dr Pepper
2 tbsp. tomato paste
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. onion powder
1/2 tsp. chili powder
kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
2 lb. Drumsticks

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425° and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a medium sauce pan over medium heat, combine ketchup, Dr. Pepper, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce and onion powder. Whisk to combine and bring to a simmer. Cook until thickened slightly, 4 to 6 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Place drumsticks in a large bowl and season generously with salt and pepper. Pour about 3/4 the marinade over the chicken and toss to coat. Place chicken in a single layer on prepared baking sheet and bake 30 to 35 minutes. Remove from oven and set oven broiler to high. Brush chicken with remaining sauce and place under broiler until golden and crisp, 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and let cool slightly then serve.

1/2 cup red onion, chopped
2 tablespoons olive oil
16 ounces boneless skinless chicken breast halves
1 (12 ounce) can Dr. Pepper cola
1 cup ketchup
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
4 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
3 tablespoons cold water

Steps:

  • In a skillet, saute onion in oil until tender. Add chicken and brown on all sides.
  • Add cola, ketchup, and seasonings. Cover and simmer for 25-30 minutes or until chicken is cooked. Remove chicken and keep warm.
  • Combine cornstarch and water until smooth, add to skillet. Bring to a boil. Cook and stir until thickened. Return chicken to pan and heat an additional 2 minutes.
  • This is great served over brown rice.

1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup vinegar
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons paprika
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
2 medium onions

  • Mix together all ingredients and simmer 15-20 minutes.
  • Baste chicken.

1 (18 ounce) bottle barbecue sauce (Sweet Baby Ray's)

  • Salt and pepper chicken; place in crockpot; cover. Cook chicken in crockpot on high for 3 hours.
  • After 3 hours, drain juices from crockpot.

I grew up with Dr. Pepper and therefore will use it in just about anything I can. This makes for a pretty good chicken marinade. I've also added a can of tomatoes before, but didn't like the texture.
