These Dr Pepper Baked Beans are the perfect side dish for your next summer barbecue! You can make these baked beans in your crockpot or oven.

12 ounces Dr Pepper
10 slices bacon
2 tablespoons minced garlic
1 medium white onion (diced)
1 can pork and beans (15 ounces) (do not drain)
1 can great northern beans (15 ounces) (rinsed and drained)
1 can kidney beans (15 ounces) (rinsed and drained)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup molasses
1 1/2 tsp dry mustard
2 tablespoons barbecue sauce
salt and pepper (to taste)

Steps:

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  • Cook your bacon, let it cool, and then chop it. Saute your diced onion with a little of the bacon fat (not all).
  • Spray a 9 x 13 inch baking dish with non-stick spray. Add the bacon and onion. Next add the beans and remaining ingredients. Stir gently.

Spicy, tangy beans. Very different and one of my favs. Use a slotted spoon while serving as this recipe produces a lot of "juice".

1 (16 ounce) can pork and beans, drained
1 medium onion, chopped
1 medium green pepper, chopped
1 medium tomatoes, chopped or 1 (14 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup Dr. Pepper cola
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

Steps:

  • Drain pork and beans well. Pour beans into casserole dish.Fold in onions, tomato, and green peppers.
  • In separate bowl mix brown sugar, Dr. Pepper, and cloves till sugar is dissolved. Pour over beans.
  • Cover and bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.

2 lbs kielbasa, cut into 1/4 inch rounds (or your favorite sausage)
1 3/4 cups Dr. Pepper cola, divided
4 (15 ounce) cans pinto beans, drained
1 (15 ounce) bottle of good-quality ketchup (I use Heinz)
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 dash Tabasco sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1 small onion
1 tablespoon fresh minced garlic (or to taste)
1 teaspoon seasoning salt
1 teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)
1/2 lb cheddar cheese, grated
1/2 cup breadcrumbs

Steps:

  • Set oven to 375 degrees.
  • Butter a 3-qt baking dish.
  • Heat a skillet over med heat with 1 tbsp oil.
  • Add sausage, and 3/4 cup Dr Pepper drink; bring to boil.
  • Cover; and lower the heat.
  • Continue cooking about 30 mins, until Dr Pepper becomes syrupy.
  • Drain the pinto beans; place in a large saucepan, add 1 cup Dr Pepper, ketchup, wine vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, soy sauce, garlic, onion and salt.
  • Bring to simmer, stirring occasionally.
  • Season with black pepper.
  • Pour into a 3-qt buttered baking dish.
  • Stir in sausage mixture.
  • Top with cheese and bread crumbs.
  • Bake, covered for 40 mins, or until cheese is melted, and mixture is bubbling.
