This recipe is from "What to Expect when you are Expecting" but is a great way to get calcium today....for me, hubby and our four kids....(yep, four so there will be no more pregancy in our house!)

1 cup skim milk or 1 cup low-fat milk
1/3 cup nonfat dry milk powder
1 banana, frozen and cut into chunks (overripe)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 dash ground cinnamon (to taste)

Steps:

  • Freeze an overripe banana, peeled and wrapped, 12 to 24 hours before making this shake.
  • Puree all the ingredients in a blender. Serve immediately.
  • BERRY VARIATION: Add 1/2 cup berries, fresh or unsweetened frozen, and 1 tablespoon frozen apple juice concentrate (thawed) before blending; omit the cinnamon, if desired.
  • "CREAMSICLE" VARIATION: Add 2 tablespoons frozen orange juice concentrate (thawed); omit the cinnamon.
  • 1 shake = 2 Calcium servings; 2/3 Protein serving; 1 Other Fruit serving. Berry Variation adds 1 Other Fruit serving, 1 Vitamin C serving if strawberries are used. "Creamsicle" Variation adds 1/2 Vitamin C serving.

This recipie is perfect on a hot summer day, in a beach chair next to the water, or just in your own home at any time.

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 cup milk
1 cup ice
4 scoops of double fudge brownie ice cream or 4 scoops chocolate ice cream
chocolate syrup (use how ever much you want of this)

Steps:

  • Get out your blender and all needed ingredients.
  • First add milk. Then continue with ice, chocolate ice cream, and chocolate syrup.
  • Now blend. First start off by grinding the ice, then puree, and finally blend. Continue blending until milk shake is completely mixed.
  • Pour in cup or glass.
  • Optional: If you wish, you can add a topping of whipped cream, and a single seedless cherry.
  • Enjoy!

1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup marshmallow cream
1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup whole milk
1/4 cup chocolate syrup
3 cups chocolate ice cream
grated bittersweet chocolate (for garnish)

Steps:

  • Whisk together the heavy cream (ideally extra-cold), marshmallow fluff and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
  • In a blender, combine milk and chocolate sauce. Add ice cream and blend until smooth.
  • Fill 4 glasses one-quarter of the way with the shake; add some marshmallow cream, then more milkshake, then cream, then milkshake. Finish with a dollop of marshmallow cream and garnish with grated bittersweet chocolate.
