DONUT BREAD PUDDING WITH BUTTER RUM SAUCE
SINFUL! Best bread pudding ever! I use Krispy Kreme donuts for this recipe. If you can't get them in your area, use a donut that is not too big. KK donuts are approximately 3.5 inches in diameter. I got this recipe from Paula Deen.

Steps:
- For the pudding, cube donuts and place in large casserole dishes coated with cooking spray.
- Combine all other pudding ingredients and pour over donuts. Let sit for 10 - 15 minutes so that the donuts soak up the custard/fruit mixture.
- Bake pudding at 350 degrees for about an hour.
- For the butter rum sauce, melt butter and slowly add confectioners sugar and rum. Heat until bubbly and serve over pudding.

- Cube donuts into a large bowl. Pour other ingredients on top of donuts and let soak for a few minutes. Mix all ingredients together until donuts have soaked up the liquid as much as possible.
- Bake for about 1 hour until center has jelled. Top with Butter Rum Sauce.
- Butter Rum Sauce:
- 1 stick butter
- 1 pound box confectioners' sugar
- Rum, to taste
- Melt butter and slowly stir in confectioners' sugar. Add rum and heat until bubbly. Pour over each serving of Donut Bread Pudding.

- Using the first 12 ingredients (from bread cubes down to confectioner's sugar) prepare the bread pudding by following the steps below:.
- Preheat oven to 350 ℉. Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with the butter. Set aside.
- Place the bread cubes in a large bowl.
- Combine the cream, milk, eggs, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and raisins in a large bowl. Stir to combine and then pour over the bread cubes. Allow to sit at room temperature for 30 to 45 minutes.
- Transfer to the prepared pan and bake until the center of the pudding is set, 50 to 60 minutes.
- Garnish with the confectioner's sugar and serve with Rum Sauce - directions below:.
- In a one quart saucepan over medium heat, combine the cream milk and sugar. Place the cornstarch and 1/4 cup of the rum in a small bowl and whisk into a slurry.
- Pour the slurry into the cream sauce and bring to a boil. Once the sauce boils, reduce the heat to a gentle simmer and cook, stirring occasionally for 5 minutes.
- Remove the sauce from heat. Stir in the salt, butter, and remaining 1/2 cup of rum. Serve warm.

- 1. Preheat oven to 350°. Prepare a 13x9" baking dish with butter and flour.
- 2. Cube (or tear) the donuts and place them into a large bowl.
- 3. In another mixing bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk, fruit cocktail with its juice, eggs, raisins, salt and cinnamon. Stir to mix well, then pour over the top of the torn up donuts. Cover, and place the soaking donuts into the refrigerator. Allow this so soak for about an hour, until the liquid is soaked up as much as possible into the donuts. Remove from refrigerator, and pour into the prepared baking dish.
- 4. Dot the top of the donuts with small butter chips.
- 5. Bake for about an hour, testing to make sure the center is cooked and jelled.
- 6. For the Butter Rum Sauce: Melt the butter and slowly stir in the powdered sugar until it is all blended in and smooth. Add rum to your liking (you could use a teaspoon of any type of extract and a couple Tbsp. of milk here, I'm sure, if you don't care for rum ... maple extract, or lemon extract, or something else, perhaps?) Heat thru 'til bubbly.
- 7. Pour the hot Butter Rum sauce over each individual serving of the bread pudding.
MULATE'S HOMEMADE BREAD PUDDING WITH BUTTER RUM SAUCE
Recipe adapted from Alton Brown's cookbook "Feasting on Asphalt". This is an unusual bread pudding in that the texture is smooth, and dense with no evidence of the bread at all, almost like a tres leches cake because they make it from left over hamburger buns, which they soak in eggs and cream until the buns lose all form and shape. - Preheat the oven to 350º. Grease a 9 x 13-inch pan and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk the eggs. Add the milk, half-and-half, sugar,.
- and vanilla, and whisk well to combine.
- Break the hamburger buns into pieces and place in the prepared pan. Sprinkle the raisins evenly over the buns and pour the liquid mixture over. Make sure that all of the bread is thoroughly soaked in the liquid.
- Bake in the middle rack of the oven for 45 minutes. Let cool for 15 minutes before serving. If you prefer a firmer texture, chill for about 2 hours, then reheat for serving.
- Serve with butter rum sauce.
- BUTTER RUM SAUCE.
- 4 Tblsp (1/2 stick) unsalted butter.
- 1/4 cup sugar.
- 1/2 cup heavy cream.
- 1/2 cup rum (although you can use any rum you want, AB relies on a dark spiced rum [Capt. Morgan] for this).
- Place the butter in a 1-quart saucepan and set over medium heat. Once the butter has melted, add the sugar and whisk to combine. Cook for 3 minutes.
- Add the cream and rum and cook for 5 minutes, or until slightly thickened.
- Serve warm over the bread pudding.
