Again, found this in my favorite hospital cookbook. A good, hearty comfort dish. Serve with a nice green salad and it is a good meal.

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 chopped onion
2 lbs ground beef
4 (10 1/4 ounce) cans meatless sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1 lb fine noodles, cooked and drained
1 lb sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
seasoning salt

Steps:

  • Heat oil; add onions and cook until golden.
  • Add meat and cook until meat loses it red color, stirring.
  • Add spaghetti sauce and salt; heat.
  • Arrange in a casserole dish half sauce and half of cheese.
  • Sprinkle with seasoning salt.
  • Make another layer noodles.
  • Add sauce and top with cheese.

Crusty Beef, Cheese and Noodle Casserole Recipe image

2 tbl. oil
1 chopped onion
2 lbs. ground beef (7% fat is best)
40 oz. meatless mushroom marinara sauce
1 tsp. salt
1 lb. fine noodles, cooked and drained
1 lb. sharp cheddar, shredded
seasoned salt

Steps:

  • Cook onion in oil. Add meat and brown. Drain as needed. Add sauce and salt. Heat through. Arrange in casserole dish: half the noodles, half the sauce, half the cheese. Sprinkle with seasoned salt. Repeat with another layer. Bake 1 hour at 325. Top should be nicely browned.

1.5 lb lean ground beef
48 oz spaghetti sauce with mushrooms
1 lb fine noodles, cooked
10 oz non-fat cheddar cheese, shredded
seasoned salt

Steps:

  • 1. BAKE: 325 degrees.
  • 2. Brown meat and onions.
  • 3. Add sauce; heat.
  • 4. Arrange in casserole half of noodles, half of sauce and half of cheese; sprinkle with salt.
  • 5. Make another layer of noodles, sauce and cheese.
  • 6. Bake 1 hour.
  • 7. Makes 2 casseroles.
  • 8. Can be doubled or halved.
  • 9. Freezes well.

1 kg flank steak, thick cut with fat trimmed off
3 tablespoons flour
1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 tablespoons vinegar
1 1/2 cups tomato juice
1/2 cup water
1 loaf French bread, cut in 1 cm slices
25 g butter, softened
1 clove garlic, crushed (optional)
1 tablespoon French mixed mustard
chives, chopped
1 clove garlic
parsley

Steps:

  • CRUSTY TOPPING French bread cut in1 cm slices 25g soft butter 1 clove garlic, crushed (opt) 1 Tbsp French mixed mustard chopped chives, garlic cloves or parsley Cut steak in pieces, 6 cm by 4 cm.
  • Place in casserole. In a bowl mix all ingredients except crusty topping.
  • Pour over beef, and cover tightly.
  • Bake at 160 C for 2 hours.
  • Combine butter, add garlic (opt), mustard and herbs.
  • Spread on one side of each bread slice (use sufficient slices to cover the top of casserole). Arrange bread, buttered side up, on meat, pushing slices firmly down to soak up juices.
  • Return uncovered casserole to oven at 200 C for about 10 minutes or until bread is crisp and golden.
