"I first sampled this tempting treatment for celery when a friend brought it to a 4-H covered dish dinner," recalls Michelle Garretson of Newcomerstown, Ohio. "We could not believe how good it tastes or how easy it is to prepare in the microwave."

10 celery ribs, thinly sliced
2 cans (10-3/4 ounces each) condensed cream of celery soup, undiluted
1 can (8 ounces) sliced water chestnuts, drained
1 can (2.8 ounces) french-fried onions

Steps:

  • In a bowl, combine the celery, soup and water chestnuts. Pour into a greased microwave-safe 8-in. square dish. Cover and microwave on high for 20 minutes or until the celery is tender, stirring every 5 minutes. Sprinkle with onions. Microwave, uncovered, 3-1/2 minutes longer.

This is the most unusual dish, and I can't take credit for it. It comes from the Taste of Home mag by Michelle Garretson. I have made ot a few times, and it really is quite good

10 stick celery, thinly sliced
21 1/2 oz (2-10.75 oz) cans cream of celery soup, undiluted
8 oz sliced water chestnuts, drained
2.8 oz can french fried onions

Steps:

  • 1. In a bowl combine the celery, soup and water chestnuts.
  • 2. Pour into a greased microwave safe dish.
  • 3. Cover and microwave on high for 27 minutes, or until celery is tender, stirring every 5 minutes.
  • 4. Sprinkle with onions.
  • 5. This is also good when some cream cheese, soy sauce and some bacon is added in.
