CREAMED SWEET PEAS
Mom's garden in the '40s provided us with many delicious vegetables, but her sweet peas were the best. She would pick them fresh, shell them and fix the best creamed sweet peas ever on her huge wood stove. -Jean Patten, Pineville, Louisiana

Steps:
- In a large saucepan, combine the flour, sugar and milk. Stir in peas and pepper; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer for 10-12 minutes or until peas are heated through and sauce has thickened.

SWEET CREAMED PEAS
When I was young my mom would always do something special to our veggies to get us to eat them, never knew there was any other way to eat peas, lol. They are quick and make a great side with just about anything.

Steps:
- 1. In a small sauce pan melt butter on med to high heat.
- 2. Once butter is melted add flour stirring constantly. Once flour is bubbling in butter add sugar.Bring to a bubble..careful not to burn.
- 3. Add a little liquid from the can of peas ..still stirring.
- 4. Once that is incorperated add the whole can of peas...add salt .... Bring to a slow bubble and turn off.
- 5. They are ready to serve.
