3 green onions, chopped
3/4 cup chutney
1/4 cup chopped salted peanuts
Assorted crackers

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth; stir in green onions. Spread into a shallow serving dish., Top with chutney; sprinkle with peanuts. Serve with crackers.

I went to a party where this was served and loved it. I couldn't get the recipe so I decided to experiment until I figured it out. This is the result. It's been very popular at parties I've taken it to. Prep time includes chilling time.

1 lb cream cheese, at room temperature
2 tablespoons curry powder
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
2 tablespoons dried currants
2 tablespoons chopped walnuts
1 (10 ounce) jar chutnut chutney

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients except chutney and mix thoroughly.
  • Form into a ball; wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate until firm.
  • Just before serving remove from refrigerator and place on a serving platter.
  • Pour chutney over ball and spread with a spatula to coat evenly.
  • Serve with crackers.

I LOVE chutney and I have made this spread for a long time.!! This comes from a cookbook from St. John's Hospital in Detroit , Michigan . It is from the Fontbonne Auxilary Renaisannce Cuisine cookbook that I bought in 1981 !!!( I was 12 when I bought it !!!!! ) Easy and so good.. Enjoy

1/2 cup chopped chutney (chutnuk if available )
1/2 cup almonds, toasted
2 teaspoons curry powder
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard

Steps:

  • mix softened cream cheese with curry powder and mustard.
  • toast almonds in small fry pan and add to cream cheese mixture with mustard.
  • mix together well.
  • Place in fridge at least 3 hours or overnight.
  • put in seving bowl with crackers and enjoy !

2 pkg 3-oz. pkgs. cream cheese, softened
1 c sharp cheddar cheese, freshly grated
4 tsp dry sherry
1/2 tsp curry powder
salt to taste (optional)
1 jar(s) 8-oz. jar mango chutney, finely chopped
1-2 green onions with tops, finely chopped
sesame crackers

Steps:

  • 1. With a mixer, beat cream cheese and then add cheddar cheese, sherry, curry powder and salt (if using).
  • 2. Spread mixture on a serving platter about 1/2 inch thick. Chill until mixture is firm.
  • 3. Just before serving, spread chutney over the top of the cream cheese mixture and sprinkle with chopped green ions. Serve with crackers.
