SESAME SOY CREAM CHEESE SPREAD.

Sesame Soy Cream Cheese Spread. image

I got this from a friend years ago. Super simple to make. The combination sounds weird, but it works. Use more or less soy sauce to you taste. I like to serve this with Triscuit crackers. This needs to be made at least 4 hours ahead of serving time, but overnight is best. This will last a week in the refrigerator, covered. Enjoy!

CREAM CHEESE LOG WITH SESAME AND SOY

Cream Cheese Log With Sesame and Soy image

This is a tasty and SIMPLE appetizer, a recipe from my friend Rocio (who got it from one of her friends). Asian flare and a crowd pleaser and takes 5 minutes to make it! You'll need some large wheat thins to go along with this. P.S. Feel free to whisk in 1/2 tsp of fresh grated ginger into the soy sauce before pouring it over the cheese log!

Time 5m

Yield 1 0z, 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese (you can you light)
2 tablespoons fresh coarse ground black pepper
1/4 cup sunflower seeds (salt-free is best)
1/4 cup soy sauce

Steps:

  • Take brick of cream cheese and place on wax paper. Form it into a log about 6 inches long or so (using the wax paper so your hands don't get yucky.
  • On a plate, put mix the seeds and pepper. Place the cream cheese on the plate and roll in the seeds/pepper. You may have to pick up the seeds/pepper and place on the roll to get it totally covered. (You may need more seed/pepper mixture depending on how long you make your roll).
  • Place the roll on a pretty, small platter. Pour soy sauce over top. You'll need a small knife for serving and it tastes best on large wheat thins.

Asian Inspired Cream Cheese Appetizer image

THIS IS NOT HOT, don't be afraid it is SOOOOOOOO GOOOOD!!!!! My family and friends tear this up everytime I make it, it is SUPER simple try it you'll love it (even if you don't care much for wasabi)

Provided by Lisa 'Gayle' Goff

Categories     Other Appetizers

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 5

8 oz philidelphia cream cheese
2-3 Tbsp powdered wasabi (reconstituted into a paste, do not use premade paste, yuck!!!)
1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
1 Tbsp black sesame seeds (for contrast optional if you can't find them)
2-4 Tbsp soy sauce

Steps:

  • 1. place cream cheese block into a large piece of saran wrap. fold saran wrap in half to cover
  • 2. using a rolling pin or a bottle of wine or something of the sort roll out into a rectangle about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick
  • 3. prepare wasabi paste
  • 4. this is the brand I use, I find it in the international isle at WalMart or my local grocery store
  • 5. brush a thin layer all over the cream cheese evenly (do not allow areas to get big globs they will be HOT when eating if you do)
  • 6. using saran wrap to help, roll like a jelly roll
  • 7. sprinkle with sesame seeds and refrigerate for about 20-30 minutes for best results
  • 8. when serving pour soy sauce over the top, be generous it is ok if it pools in the dish, as you scoop a portion with your cracker its nice to pick up some of the soy sauce too.
  • 9. The crackers are really a major key for flavor I prefer the crunchmaster whole grain gluten free crackers (they are kind of rice flavored so they work perfectly with the asian theme) but if you have trouble getting them in your area just experiment with your favorites or maybe a different rice crackers.
