CRANBERRY STRAWBERRY SAUCE

This recipe was given to me by my aunt quite a few years ago. It's especially good with turkey, chicken or pork, but my family also likes it as a topping for waffles, cheesecake-even ice cream!

Yield 2-1/2 cups.

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
1 carton (10 ounces) frozen sliced strawberries in syrup

Steps:

  • In a saucepan, combine cranberries, water and sugar. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Boil gently, uncovered, 3-4 minutes or until about half of the cranberries burst. Remove from the heat; immediately add strawberries. Let stand until strawberries are completely thawed, stirring occasionally. Refrigerate.

1 (12 ounce) bag frozen cranberries, thawed
1 (10 ounce) package frozen strawberries, thawed
1/2 cup sugar

Steps:

  • After thawing cranberries and strawberries, reserve the liquid and add enough water to make 1 cup.
  • In a saucepan, combine this liquid with sugar. Cook until dissolved.
  • Add cranberries to pan. Bring to a boil and cook, stirring occasionlly, until berries pop and mixture thickens.
  • Remove from heat, and stir in strawberries.
  • Let cool
  • Refrigerate at least 3 hours or overnight to give time for flavors to meld.
