Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
- In a large bowl mix oil and 1 cup of sugar. Add egg, beat well. Stir in molasses, 2 cups flour, baking soda and spices. If necessary, add more flour to make a firm dough.
- Shape dough into 1 1/4 inch balls. Roll in 1/3 cup sugar. Place 3 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake 12 to 14 minutes or until tops crack. Remove from baking sheet and cool on rack.

- Preheat oven to 350°.
- In a large bowl, combine oil and 1 cup sugar.
- Add egg, beating well.
- Stir in molasses, 2 cups flour, baking soda, cinnamon and ginger.
- If necessary, add a little more flour to make a firm dough.
- Shape dough into 1 1/4 inch balls.
- Roll in 1/3 cup of sugar.
- Place 3-inces apart on ungreased baking sheets.
- Bake 12 minutes or until golden brown and tops crack.
- Cool on racks.

- Prehear oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, combine oil and sugar. Mix together with an electric mixer. Add egg, beating well. Stir in molasses, flour, baking soda, cinnamon and ginger. Add a little more flour if dough is not firm enough. Shape dough into 1 1/4 inch balls and roll in sugar. Place 3 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 12 - 14 minutes or until golden brown and tops crack. Remove cookies from baking sheets; cool on racks.

Steps:
- Cream together shortening, butter, and sugar. Blend in egg. Add molasses. Beat until light and fluffy. Sift together flour, salt, baking powder and ginger. Add nuts. Dough should be soft but not sticky. Chill dough 4 hours. Shape into 1 1/2 in diameter balls. Flatten a little Bake 350 deg 12-15 min. Sprinkle with sugar and nuts.
