1/2 cup sugar
1 cup corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup margarine, melted
1 cup pecans
3 tablespoons semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 unbaked pastry shell

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F
  • In a medium sized bowl, beat together eggs, add in sugar and mix well. Mix in corn syrup, salt, vanilla, and margarine.
  • Place pecans and chocolate chips in pie shell. Pour mixture over nuts and chips. The pecans will rise up to the top when baking. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes.
  • Chill before serving and between servings.

My favorite part of Pecan Pie is the top. I have never been a fan of the middle, but I eat it. Anything from the Coca Cola Cake to the Peach Cobbler is fantastic at the Cracker Barrel. Adding the chocolate to this pie, well it has to be good.

1 c pecans, halved
3 Tbsp semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 plain pie crust

Place pecans and chocolate chips in pie shell. Add mixture. The pecans will rise up to the top when baking. Bake in a 350 degrees oven for 50-60 minutes. You could serve this chocolate pecan pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I like to keep this pie in the refrigerator between servings, I think helps the pie to set up better.
