3 cups chopped peeled tart apples
2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup crushed cornflakes
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
3 tablespoons butter, melted

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the apples, cranberries, sugar and flour; spoon into a 2-qt. baking dish coated with cooking spray. Combine the cornflakes, pecans, brown sugar and butter; sprinkle over apple mixture. bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes or until top is golden brown and filling is bubbly.

This is a newly adopted recipe I just tried last weekend in an attempt to use up some fresh apples and a can of cranberry.....lets just say we loved it.....very delicious.

Number Of Ingredients 11

3/4 c sugar
2 Tbsp all-purpose flour (i think i used whole wheat cause i was out of all purpose and it turned out fine)
16 oz whole berry cranberry sauce
7 c thinly sliced peeled tart apples
TOPPING:
1 c old-fashioned oats
1/3 c all-purpose flour
1/3 c packed brown sugar
1/4 c chopped walnuts
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 c cold butter, cubed

Steps:

  • 1. In a large bowl, combine sugar and flour, stir in cranberry sauce. Add the apples; toss to coat. Transfer to a greased 13x9 baking dish.
  • 2. In a small bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, walnuts and cinnamon; cut in butter till mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over apples.
  • 3. Bake at 375* for 35-40 mins or till filling is bubbly and topping is golden brown. Serve warm with ice cream if desired.

1/4 cup cold butter, cubed
Vanilla ice cream, optional

  • In a large bowl, combine sugar and flour; stir in cranberry sauce. Add apples; toss to coat. Transfer to a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish. In a small bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, walnuts and cinnamon; cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over apple mixture. Bake at 375° for 35-40 minutes or until filling is bubbly and topping is golden brown. Serve warm with ice cream if desired. Yield: 12-15 servings.
