CHERRY COKE SALAD

This sparkling salad was as popular at my sister's party as the cherry-flavored cola was back in the 1950s.-Judy Nix, Toccoa, Georgia

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 can (20 ounces) crushed pineapple
1/2 cup water
2 packages (3 ounces each) cherry gelatin
1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
3/4 cup cola

Steps:

  • Drain pineapple, reserving juice; set fruit aside. In a saucepan or microwave, bring pineapple juice and water to a boil. Add gelatin; stir until dissolved. Stir in pie filling and cola. , Pour into a serving bowl. Refrigerate until slightly thickened. Fold in reserved pineapple. Refrigerate until firm.

Delicious and perfect for Thanksgiving or Christmas. An old southern family favorite (without the cream cheese) - my mom made this all time for him - from an old copy of River Road Recipes submitted by Mrs. Malcolm Sevier, Tallulah, LA.

1 (3 ounce) package raspberry gelatin powder
1 (3 ounce) package cherry gelatin
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can seedless white cherries
1 (20 ounce) can crushed pineapple
1 cup pecans, Coarsely Chopped
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese (frozen)
2 (12 ounce) cans Coca-Cola, partially frozen

Steps:

  • Dissolve gelatin in juices (headed) from cherries and pineapple Then add cokes, cherries , pineapple and nuts. Grate frozen cream cheese over tops of molds (gives appearance of snow). Place in refrigerator to congeal. The "frozen" cokes make congealing faster.

1 can(s) (16 oz) pitted sour red cherries and juice
1/2 c water
1 c sugar
2 pkg 3 oz cherry jello
1 can(s) small can of crushed pineapple (drain well)
1 c coke a cola or pepsi
1 c walnuts (optional)
1 c cool whip

Steps:

  • 1. Bring together the cherry juice,water and sugar and boil. Dissolve 2 pkgs of cherry jello with the boiled mixture. cool in refrigerator (do not set up) 30 mins
  • 2. Add small can of crushed pineapple,(drained well) 1 C. of coke a cola or pepsi, with 1 C of walnut(optional). Add this mixture to the drained cherries and add all to the jello mixture. Let set up in fridge.
  • 3. When completely set,add cool whip .

20 ounces pineapple chunks in juice, juice reserved
20 ounces bing cherries in juice, juice reserved
2 (8 ounce) packages cherry Jell-O
3 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup pecans, chopped
1 1/2 cups cola

Steps:

  • Drain pineapple and cherries; reserve juice.
  • Heat 1-1/2 cups of reserved juice; most of the 1-1/2 cups should be pineapple juice and just a little cherry juice.
  • Dissolve Jell-O in heated juice; add softened cream cheese; whip.
  • Add pineapple, cherries, and pecans.
  • Stir in Cola.
  • Chill until firm.
  • The ounce sizes are guesses; it is the big can of cherry and pineapple; the Jell-O is the small box. When I make it I will look at sizes and edit.

This is far from your ordinary jello salad. Absolutely delicious. I make this for Thanksgiving. No one in my family likes cranberries, and this is very colorful.

2 (3 ounce) packages cherry Jell-O
2 cups boiling water
1 (14 ounce) can crushed pineapple (drained)
2 (14 ounce) cans cherries (pitted Bing,, drained)
8 ounces Coke
1 cup walnuts (chopped)

Steps:

  • Dissolve jello packs in boiling water. Add 8 oz of Coke.
  • Drain the pineapple and cherries, then add to Jello. Top with chopped walnuts and refrigerate.
  • I usually use a 8 x 12 pyrex dish to make this inches.

1 pkg large, black cherry jello
1 can(s) (15 ounce) crushed pineapple, drained
1 c chopped apple
1/2 c chopped pecans
1 pkg (8 ounce) cream cheese,softened
1 bottle (16 ounce) pepsi cola

Steps:

  • 1. Mix jello according to package directions. except use the pineapple juice from crushed pineapple in place of cold water. Add cream cheese, after adding hot water and beat with electric mixer well.
  • 2. Put jello in refrigerator and let gel slightly. Add remaining ingredients, except Pepsi Cola.
  • 3. Add Pepsi Cola and stir Put into salad mold.
  • 4. Refrigerate at least 6 hours

This is a very diffrent type of dish to have. A friend made this for a holiday to have with crandberries as she new I was allergic to them.

16 oz coke or pepsi (2 cups)
1 large jello, black cherry
1 pkg 8 oz cream cheese
1/2 c nuts, chopped (your choice)

Steps:

  • 1. Boil Coke then add jello and dissolve. Pour into a shallow casseroll dish.
  • 2. While liquid is still hot, mash cream cheese into Coke with a fork.
  • 3. Add 1/2 cup chopped nuts. Refridgerate over night.
