Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/2 ounce* grenadine syrup
1 ounce dark rum
1 ounces coconut rum
1/2 ounce lime juice
3 ounces pineapple juice
1 cup ice

Steps:

  • Add the grenadine to the bottom of a highball or hurricane glass. Blend the dark rum, coconut rum, lime juice, pineapple juice, and ice in a blender until a slushy texture forms. Pour the blended mix slowly over the grenadine. Garnish with pineapple or lime wedges.
  • Add ice to a glass (you can also use crushed ice). Pour in the dark rum, coconut rum, lime juice, and pineapple juice, and stir gently. Pour the grenadine into center of the drink and it will sink to the bottom.
  • Blend 1/2 cup dark rum, 1/2 cup coconut rum, 1/4 cup lime juice, 1 1/2 cups pineapple juice and 4 cups ice in a blender until a slushy texture forms. Place 1 tablespoon grenadine in each cup, and pour in the blended mixture.

This is a great summer drink from Dale Degroff (The Essential Cocktail) that will go by the pitcher! This recipe is by the glass, though, for sipping on the patio. If you don't have all four rums, you can improvise by doubling up (I would recommend making sure to use dark rum and coconut rum, however). Angostura bitters really make the drink, but could be left out if you don't have them (usually found in the tropical drink section at a supermarket or liquor store).

Time 2m

Yield 1 glass, 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

3/4 ounce white rum
3/4 ounce golden rum (anejo)
3/4 ounce dark rum (preferably Myers's)
1/2 ounce coconut rum
3 ounces unsweetened pineapple juice
2 ounces orange juice (preferably fresh-squeezed)
1 teaspoon grenadine
1 dash Angostura bitters
1 maraschino cherry (optional)
1 orange slice (optional)

Steps:

  • Combine rums, juices, grenadine and bitters in a glass with ice. Shake well, or stir if you do not have a shaker (two glasses top-to-top work well as a shaker, just make sure they seal tightly).
  • Pour into a large glass and garnish with the cherry and orange slice, if desired.
