Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 lb grated sharp cheddar cheese (do not buy already grated, it has a wax coating that won't work well)
1 tsp salt
12 green onions (chopped including green tops)
1 c slivered almonds (lightly toasted)
11/2 c mayonnaise
12 oz bacon
1 jar(s) chutney

Steps:

  • 1. Mix first 5 ingredients well and chill for more than an hour. In the meantime, cook bacon until crisp, drain and then crumble into pieces. Set aside bacon.
  • 2. When ready to serve, place cheese mixture on serving plate, flatten out to width of plate. Top with chutney, spreading evenly over cheese. Sprinkle crumbled bacon pieces on top of chutney.
  • 3. Serve with your favorite crackers or chips.

CHUTNEY CHEESE BALL WITH BACON COATING

Chutney Cheese Ball With Bacon Coating image

This recipe is one of my all time favorites. It is from a recipe book from my childhood church. Make the cheese ball ahead of time. Make the coating just before serving. I serve this with Triscuits because they are so sturdy.
