1 cup unsalted butter (softened to room temp)
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup mashed banana
2 1/2 cups chocolate chips (divided)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Spray a 9 x 13 inch glass pan with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
  • Combine butter, eggs, brown sugar, sugar, salt, and vanilla until well blended.
  • Add in flour, baking soda, mashed banana, and 2 cups of chocolate chips.
  • Spread batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  • Sprinkle 1/2 cup chocolate chips over the top of batter.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Cool completely and cut into bars.

1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 large eggs
1 1/2 cups light brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup white granulated sugar
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup mashed banana (about one medium-large banana)
1 (12-oz) bag(s) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chocolate chips (for the top)
nonstick cooking spray (for baking dish)

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly coat a 9×13" glass baking dish with nonstick cooking spray; set aside.
  • 2. With electric mixer, beat together the butter, eggs, both sugars (brown and white), salt and vanilla for one minute (to add plenty of air to the batter). Add flour and mashed banana, and beat until combined. With a wooden spoon, stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  • 3. Pour batter into prepared baking dish. Smooth the surface with a knife or spatula. Sprinkle the 1/2 cup chocolate chips on top.
  • 4. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or just until lightly golden brown and a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool completely before cutting into bars.

½ cup banana, mashed with a fork (about one medium-large banana)
10-oz. Hershey’s semi-sweet chocolate baking melts (or 12-oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips)
¼ cup Nestle's chocolate chips for the top
