Another treat with chocolate and peanut butter! It's a real favorite in our house!

3 c rice krispies cereal
12 oz semi sweet chocolate morsels
1 c creamy peanut butter
1/2 c maple syrup
4 Tbsp butter

Steps:

  • 1. Line an 8 x 8 inch baking pan with parchment paper. Set aside.
  • 2. In a 3 quart sauce pan, on low heat, combine semi sweet morsels, peanut butter, maple syrup and butter. Stirring until everything is blended together.
  • 3. Then add the Rice Krispies, and stir until the cereal is completely coated with the chocolate peanut butter mixture.
  • 4. Spread mixture into prepared pan, and refrigerate until set. At least an hour or so.
  • 5. When set, cut into bars. Enjoy!

DARK CHOCOLATE/PEANUT BUTTER RICE KRISPIE BARS



Dark Chocolate/Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Bars image

My family LOVES Rice Krispie Treats, and I Love to make/bake different kinds of GOODIES so I thought I would combine a couple of things and make them even BETTER. Always a BIG hit. :)

2 bag(s) marshmallows, mini
1 package(s) dark chocolate chips
1/2 cup(s) butter
1 cup(s) peanut butter, crunchy
18 oz box(es) rice krispie cereal
1/2 package(s) dark chocolate chips
1 package(s) reese's peanut butter chips

Steps:

  • Add the dark chocolate chips to a microwavable bowl and heat at 50% for 1 min. Remove from microwave and stir, place back in microwave an additional 30 sec until melted. Set aside.
  • In a large pot over med heat melt the butter and the 2 bags of marshmallows. Add in the peanut butter and melted chocolate. Stir until combined, remove from the heat then add 1 18oz size box of rice krispie cereal and mix well. (The mixture will be thick).
  • Lightly butter a 11x15" pan and pour the mixture into it. Press down with wax paper until even in the pan. Set aside.
  • In microwavable dishes add the peanut butter chips in one and the dark chocolate in another and melt at 50% for 1 min. Stir and repeat for 30 sec. until melted. Pour the melted peanut butter chips over the top of the rice krispie bars and spread to cover, then pour the melted dark chocolate into a baggie cut the tip off and drizzle over the top.
  • Let sit for about and hour or until the chocolate has set. Cut into bars (makes about 32) and enjoy. :)

For the crispy layer:
1¾ cups Rice Krispies cereal
¼ cup water
¼ cup sugar
3 tablespoons light corn syrup
3 tablespoons melted butter
For the milk chocolate peanut butter layer:
5 ounces milk chocolate, coarsely chopped
1 cup creamy peanut butter
For the dark chocolate top layer:
4 ounces semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
4 tablespoons butter

Steps:

  • For the crust, line 8 x 8 inch pan with non-stick foil or spray regular foil with cooking spray.
  • Pour the water into a small saucepan. carefully add the sugar and corn syrup into the center of the pan, avoiding the sides of the pan.. Stir mixture with wooden spoon or silicone spatula.
  • Put a candy thermometer in the saucepan, cook over medium-high heat and bring to a boil. Cook until the mixture reaches the soft ball stage, 235º.
  • Remove from heat, stir in the butter and pour the mixture over the crispy rice cereal. Quickly stir until the cereal until it is thoroughly coated. Use a silicone spatula to press mixture into the baking pan. Let the crust cool to room temperature.
  • For the chocolate peanut butter layer: In a large microwave safe bowl, heat the pb and chocolate gently till melted. Stir till well combined and pour evenly over crust. Chill for one hour.
  • Make the dark chocolate icing layer: In another microwave safe bowl, heat the chocolate, corn syrup and butter till melted. Stir till smooth. Pour over the peanut butter layer and spread evenly over top. Chill for an hour or till the layer hardens.
  • Cut into nine squares. Store the bars in the refrigerator.
  • Yield: 9-16 bars, depending on size
  • Total time:3 hours
