Categories     main-dish

Time 1h55m

Yield 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 14

2 pounds ground beef chuck
12 ounces American cheese slices (about 30 slices)
All-purpose flour, for dusting
1 1/2 pounds store-bought pizza dough, at room temperature (see Cook's Note)
5 tablespoons ketchup
2 tablespoons yellow mustard
1 medium red onion, finely chopped
12 strips cooked bacon, broken in half
One 32-ounce jar dill pickle chips (35 to 40 chips)
Sesame seeds, for garnish
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon dried onion flakes
1 teaspoon sugar
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the beef and cook, stirring to break it up into small crumbles, until cooked through, 8 to 10 minutes. Meanwhile, roughly chop half of the cheese, leaving other half as slices. Set aside.
  • Using a slotted spoon, remove the beef from the skillet and transfer to a large bowl; discard the fat and liquid in the pan. Let the beef cool completely in the bowl, then stir in the chopped cheese.
  • On a lightly floured work surface, roll the dough into a 20-by-14-inch rectangle. Arrange the beef and cheese mixture evenly on one half of the dough, starting on the shorter end and leaving a 1-inch border on the sides. Drizzle 2 tablespoons ketchup evenly over the beef mixture and the uncovered half of the dough; repeat with all the mustard, and then the red onion. Lay down the remaining cheese slices evenly over the half of the dough with no beef mixture, leaving a 1-inch border on the sides. Arrange the bacon pieces and 24 dill pickle chips just over the beef mixture.
  • Working from the short side with the beef mixture, tightly roll up the dough into a log, jelly-roll style. Pinch the open ends together to seal, then tuck them underneath the log. Transfer the log, seam side-down, to the prepared baking sheet, brush all over with water and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake, rotating the pan halfway through, until the bread is golden brown, about 40 minutes.
  • While the bread bakes, whisk together the mayonnaise, onion flakes, sugar, a pinch of salt and pepper and the remaining 3 tablespoons ketchup, 2 tablespoons finely chopped dill pickle chips and 1 teaspoon pickle brine in a small bowl. Taste, and season the special sauce with additional salt if needed. Let the bread cool for 10 minutes. Slice into 8 pieces and serve warm with the special sauce.

1/2 lb chopped bacon
1 cup chopped onion
1 lb lean ground beef
1 tablespoon steak seasoning (I used McCormick)
12 ounces Velveeta cheese, cubed
1 (13 7/8 ounce) thin crust pizza dough (I used PIllsbury)
1 1/2 cups grated monterey jack and cheddar cheese blend

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425°. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  • In a large skillet over medium-low heat cook bacon until it's crisp. Remove the bacon from the pan and set aside.

Drain the excess liquid/grease from the pan. Place the skillet back on the heat and turn the heat to low. Add bacon back into the pan and season with the steak seasoning. Add in the Velveeta and stirring continuously cook until the cheese is melted. Remove the pan from the heat.
  • Roll the pizza dough out onto the prepared baking sheet. The dough should be approximately a 15x10 rectangle. Spread the meat mixture evenly on top, leaving an inch at the edges to allow for spreading. Sprinkle the grated cheese on top of the meat. Roll up the pizza dough, starting with the long sides and pinch the crust together to seal. Bake seam side down for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Allow the bread to cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
  • In a small bowl whisk together the mayonnaise, ketchup, salt, and pepper.
  • Dip the sliced bread into the sauce, if desired.

BACON CHEESEBURGER MONKEY BREAD

Bacon Cheeseburger Monkey Bread image

Bacon Cheeseburger Monkey Bread is loaded with ground beef, bacon, and cheddar...a gooey, savory, pull-apart snack that's perfect for Super Bowl or any party!

Provided by @MakeItYours

Number Of Ingredients 8

8 ounces bacon
1 pound ground beef
2 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and freshly ground black pepper,
2 (16-ounce) cans jumbo refrigerated biscuits
6 tablespoons butter, melted, plus additional for greasing pan
2 cups (8 ounces) grated sharp cheddar cheese
Optional garnishes: chopped pickles, tomatoes, onions, mustard, ketchup

Steps:

  • Adjust oven rack to center position and preheat oven to 350°F. Generously grease a full-sized bundt pan with butter and set aside.
  • Use sharp kitchen shears to carefully snip the bacon into pieces into a large pot set over medium high heat. Cook, stirring frequently, until crispy. Drain bacon on a paper towel-lined plate and set aside; pour the grease from the pot. In the same pot, cook the ground beef until browned; stir in the minced garlic and cook for a minute more. Generously season with salt and pepper, to taste; set aside.
  • Quarter the biscuits and place in a large bowl. Pour the melted butter, cooked beef, cooked bacon, and half of the cheese over the top and immediately toss/stir to combine. Transfer the biscuit mixture into the prepared bundt pan, sprinkling more cheese between the layers until all of the cheese has been used up. Make sure the the top of the biscuit mixture is fairly level once the pan is full.
  • Bake for 30 to 45 minutes, until the biscuits are cooked through and golden on top. Check frequently and cover with a sheet of foil if the tops start to get too dark. Allow the pan to rest on a cooling rack for 5 minutes before loosening the edges of the monkey bread with a plastic knife, placing a large plate or platter over the top, and overturning. Serve immediately, pulling apart and topping with optional garnishes.
