I came up with this idea as an activity for a toddler's birthday party. It is a great activity for a rainy day, or prior to a long trip, for a wearable, less-mess snack.

3 ounces shoestring licorice (red &, black)
1 cup checkerboard pretzel
1 cup Fruit Loops cereal
2 cups assorted varieties Cheerios toasted oat cereal
1 cup gummy Lifesavers candy, use your imagination

Steps:

  • Use the licorice as your"string" and thread the other ingredients onto it.
  • Use various lengths to create necklaces, bracelets,& rings.
  • Wear your creations with pride, then eat them when the mood strikes.

Kids can have fun making food by the foot with "O's" and candies that may just be in your cupboard.

4 pieces (about 36 inches each) red shoestring licorice
1/3 cup Cheerios™ cereal
1 roll (1.5 oz) brightly colored, ring-shaped gummy candy
1 package (1 1/4 oz) pastel-colored tube-shaped licorice candies
1/2 cup colored miniature marshmallows
1 tablespoon powdered sugar

Steps:

  • Onto each piece of shoestring licorice, string an arrangement of cereal, candies and marshmallows (to prevent stickiness, dip 1 end of licorice into powdered sugar before poking licorice through each marshmallow).
  • When each licorice is 3/4 full, tie ends of licorice together into a double knot to make a necklace.

1 cup Cheerios™ cereal
1 cup fruit-flavored gummi, ring-shaped candy
1/2 cup pieces pastel-colored tube-shaped licorice candies (from 5.5-oz bag)

Steps:

  • Working from each end of the piece of licorice, string an arrangement of cereal and candies to create desired pattern on the necklace.
  • Tie the ends of the licorice together in a double knot to secure the necklace.
