2 cups Basic Cookie Dough
36 chocolate stars or chocolate kisses
36 candied cherry halves

Steps:

  • Drop cookie dough by teaspoonfuls 2 in. apart onto greased baking sheets. Top each with a chocolate star and wrap dough around it. Top each with a candied cherry half. Bake at 375° for 10-12 minutes or until bottoms are lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool.

1 ⅓ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon cornstarch
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup light brown sugar
¼ cup white sugar
¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
¼ cup shortening
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon molasses
¾ cup dark chocolate chips
½ cup dried cherries
½ cup chopped pecans
1 pinch coarse sea salt

Steps:

  • Whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
  • Combine brown sugar, white sugar, butter, and shortening in a large bowl; beat with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Mix in egg, vanilla extract, and molasses on low speed. Gradually add flour mixture and blend until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips, cherries, and pecans with a wooden spoon. Cover and place in the refrigerator until well chilled, at least 2 hours.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  • Roll dough into scant 1/4-cup-sized balls and place 2 inches apart onto baking sheets.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown on the edges and slightly underdone in the middles, 12 to 14 minutes. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with sea salt. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, so cookies can continue to cook, before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. butter, at room temperature
3/4 c. granulated sugar
3/4 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. almond extract
1 c. coarsely chopped candied cherries
2 c. (12 oz. package) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Combine flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and almond extract; beat until creamy, about 2 to 3 minutes. Beat in eggs.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture; mix until combined. Stir in the chopped candied cherries and chocolate chips.
  • Drop dough by rounded teaspoonful onto a cookie sheet. Bake at 375℉ for 9 - 10 minutes.
  • Remove pan from the oven and let cookies stand on the pan for about a minute before removing to a cooling rack.
  • For the candied cherries, you can use red, green, or a combination of 1/2 cup of each. We always use a combination of both colors for an extra pretty Christmas look.

2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter or margarine
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 - 12oz. semi-sweet chocolate morsels
1 cup nuts
8oz. Red or Green Paradise Candied Cherries chopped

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375º. Combine flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, sugars and vanilla extract in large mixing bowl until creamy, add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each one, gradually add flour mixture, stir in chocolate chips and nuts and fruit. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 9 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheet. Time saver: Use your favorite packaged refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough, mix in candied cherries and bake as instructed on cookie dough package. Enjoy!

These are one of my favorites. I make them every holiday season. They are great for mailing and keep for weeks!

½ cup butter, softened
¾ cup white sugar
3 eggs
2 teaspoons almond extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ cup chopped candied cherries
½ cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
½ cup chopped white chocolate

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a large cookie sheet.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the almond extract. Combine the flour and baking powder; stir into the creamed mixture until just blended. Mix in candied cherries and mini chocolate chips.
  • With lightly floured hands, shape dough into two 10 inch long loaves. Place rolls 5 inches apart on the prepared cookie sheet; flatten each to 3 inch width.
  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until set and light golden brown. Cool 10 minutes. Using a serrated knife, cut loaves diagonally into 1/2 inch slices. Arrange slices cut side down on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until bottoms begin to brown. Turn, and bake an additional 5 minutes, or until browned and crisp. Cool completely. Melt white chocolate in the microwave, stirring every 20 to 30 seconds until smooth. Drizzle cookies with melted white chocolate. Store in tightly covered container.
