EQUAL AMOUNTS:
flour
oil
shortening

Steps:

  • In small mixing bowl put ingredients and whisk together until smooth. I use 1 cup measurements.
  • Pour mixture into container. I used a wide-mouth canning jar. This made about 2-1/2 cups.
  • To use dip a bristle brush into jar and paint on all inner surfaces of pan. Just a thin coat but be sure no spots are left dry. Follow cake recipe as always.
  • This can be stored for 6 months in fridge.

CAKE RELEASE PASTE

This paste will keep for about 6 months. So, if you do a bunch of baking and don't have a bunch of silpat yet, this is MUCH easier than greasing and flouring your pan. Works like a charm.

Now you longer longer need to grease and flour your pans. This recipe takes care of it all. The great thing is you can make as much as you want and it won't spoil, just store in a cool dry place. I learned this recipe when I took cake decorating classes, I haven't greased and floured a pan since.

QUICK EASY CHEAP CAKE RELEASE

Quick Easy CHEAP Cake Release image

I have used this stuff since the mid 70's & wouldn't be without it. (May be used in any recipe that calls for the pan to be "greased". Don't need "Pam" ever again!)

Categories     Cakes

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 cup(s) shortening
3/4 cup(s) oil
1 cup(s) all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • Mix well, store in an airtight container, either in your refrig. OR in a cool dark pantry. When you go to use it simply use a pastry brush and brush it into your pan like you would if you were greasing it and then flouring. (I use waxed paper to apply it) Then add your prepared cake mix and bake. (I also use it in my muffin pans and that way I don't have to use the muffin papers) (Can also be used IF making Loaf breads or Quick breads) No need to flour your pan,'cause the flour is in the mix!
