18 pineapple chunks
12 whole strawberries
1 angel food cake, 12 1-inch cubes
6 bamboo skewers
2 tablespoons semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 tablespoon butter

Steps:

  • Line cookie sheet with waxed paper. Alternately thread 3 pineapple cubes, 2 strawberries, and 2 cake cubes on each skewer. Place kabobs on waxed paper.
  • In small saucepan over low heat, melt chocolate chips and margarine. Blend well. Drizzle chocolate mixture over kabobs. Refrigerate until set.

"I've served these fun kabobs at many parties," says Robin Spires of Tampa, Florida. "You can use any combination of fruits you like, depending on what's in season. The thick chocolate sauce has just the right hint of orange."

Yield 8 servings (1 cup sauce).

1 large red apple, cut into 16 chunks
1 large green apple, cut into 16 chunks
1 large firm banana, cut into eight chunks
2 tablespoons lemon juice
16 fresh strawberries
8 seedless red grapes
8 seedless green grapes
3 slices pound cake, cut into 1-inch cubes
SAUCE:
1-1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
1/4 cup orange juice

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine apples and banana; add lemon juice and toss gently. Thread fruit and cake alternately onto eight wooden skewers., For sauce, in a microwave-safe bowl, combine semisweet chips and milk on high for about 1 minute; stir. Microwave at additional 10- to 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Stir in orange juice. Serve with kabobs.

Sara Lee Frozen Pound Cake
10 oz. Jar Polaner All Fruit-Apricot
1 stick butter
5 medium peaches
Metal skewers
Pastry brush
Sauce pan
1/2 Gallon vanilla ice cream

Steps:

  • Thaw Pound cake Remove Pound cake from tray; stand on its side in slice halfway between top and bottom. Place the two halves together. Make two even slices lenghtwise. Then slice across five times. You will have 30 equal size cubes. Wash and dry peaches. Remove the pit and cut the peaches in chunks. Alternately, skewer the peaches and pound cake. In a sauce pan on the grill melt butter with all fruit. Blend thoruoughly. Brush the fruit and cake with the butter mixture. Place on the grill and rotate occasionally until cake begins to crust. Remove from grill and serve over vanilla ice cream.
