1/4 cup butter, softened
2 tablespoons shredded Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 loaf (8 ounces) French bread, halved lengthwise

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the butter, cheese and garlic powder. Spread mixture over cut sides of bread. Place on an ungreased baking sheet., Bake at 400° for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.

1 cup butter
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
2 loaves sweet French bread
4 garlic cloves, sliced
3 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, melt butter; add olive oil and garlic.
  • Warm over medium heat for 1 minute.
  • Add black pepper and oregano.
  • Cut loaves in half lengthwise and brush with garlic butter mixture.
  • Sprinkle with parsley and toast on a grill or under a broiler until golden brown.
  • Serve immediately.

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1 tablespoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons minced chives
2 teaspoons minced fresh parsley
1 loaf (1 pound) French bread, halved lengthwise
1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the first six ingredients; spread over cut sides of bread. Sprinkle with mozzarella and cheddar cheeses. , Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Broil 4-6 in. from the heat for 2-3 minutes or until lightly browned. Cut into slices.

Spread the garlic judiciously over the bread halves.

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 loaf French or Italian bread
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
2 small garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees with a rack in the top position. Slice bread in half horizontally. In a small bowl, mix together butter, garlic, and salt. Spread seasoned butter on cut sides of both bread halves.
  • Reclose halves to form a sandwich, and wrap in aluminum foil. Bake 10 minutes. Switch oven setting to broil. Remove bread from oven, and remove foil.
  • Lay bread halves, cut side up, on a baking sheet. Place under broiler until butter bubbles and edges of bread start to turn brown, about 30 seconds. Let cool slightly, then slice into serving pieces.
