A classic served at Musso & Frank. Think of it as a Bloody Mary minus tomato juice.

Yield Serves 1

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/8 teaspoon celery salt
Ice cubes
1/4 cup vodka
3/4 cup chilled double-rich double-strength canned beef broth
Lime wedge

Steps:

  • Mix Worcestershire and salt in glass. Add ice cubes. Pour vodka, then broth over. Garnish with lime wedge.

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 1/2 ounces ( 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon) bull-tail consommé, or oxtail or beef consommé
1 1/3 ounces (2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons) vodka
3/4 ounce (1 1/2 tablespoons) cucumber juice (see note)
1/2 ounce (1 tablespoon) freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 pinch celery salt
1 slice celery, for garnish
1 slice cucumber, for garnish

Steps:

  • In a shaker, combine all ingredients except the celery and cucumber. Add ice, shake well and strain into an ice-filled highball glass. Garnish with celery and cucumber slices.

2 1/2 ounces vodka
5 ounces beef bouillon
1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Steps:

  • In a shaker half-filled with ice cubes, combine the vodka, bouillon, salt, pepper, Worcestershire, and Tabasco.
  • Shake well.
  • Strain into a highball glass almost filled with ice cubes.
