Grilled Bourbon & Coke Brats Skewers - SO good! Perfect party food!! Brats, onions, bell peppers and mushrooms marinated in bourbon, coke, soy sauce, brown sugar, seasoned salt and a little cayenne. Number Of Ingredients 11

½ cup soy sauce
½ cup bourbon
½ cup Coke
3 Tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp seasoned salt
¼ tsp cayenne pepper (more or less to taste)
2 cups whole mushroom caps
3 bell peppers (green, red, orange, or yellow), cut into 1-inch pieces
1 medium onion, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 (16-oz) package bratwurst, cut into 1-inch pieces
13 (6-inch) wooden skewers, soaked in water

Steps:

  • Whisk together soy sauce, bourbon, Coke, brown sugar, seasoned salt, and cayenne pepper.
  • Place all veggies and bratwurst pieces in a gallon resealable plastic bag. Pour bourbon and Coke mixture into bag and seal. Turn to coat.
  • Refrigerate for at least an hour, up to overnight.
  • To assemble, remove vegetables and bratwurst from marinade. Thread onto water soaked wooden skewers, alternating vegetables and bratwurst pieces.
  • Grill for 10 to 15 minutes, until vegetables are soft and bratwurst are no longer pink.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/2 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
1/2 cup bourbon
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 cups whole mushrooms
2 medium sweet red peppers, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 medium green pepper, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 medium onion, cut into wedges
1 package (16 ounces) uncooked bratwurst links, cut into 1-inch slices

Steps:

  • In a large resealable plastic bag, combine the first five ingredients. Add the vegetables; seal bag and turn to coat. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour., Drain and reserve marinade. On six metal or soaked wooden skewers, alternately thread the vegetables and bratwurst., Spoon some reserved marinade over vegetables and bratwurst. Grill, covered, over medium heat 15-20 minutes or until bratwurst is no longer pink and vegetables are tender, turning and basting frequently with reserved marinade during the last 5 minutes.

This marinated bratwurst recipe comes from Jill Hazelton of Hamlet, Indiana. The flavor of the marinade really comes through in the grilled onions.

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 can (12 ounces) beer or nonalcoholic beer
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
8 uncooked bratwurst links
1 large onion, thinly sliced
8 brat or hot dog buns, split

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the first six ingredients. Pour 1-3/4 cups into a large resealable plastic bag; add bratwurst. Seal bag and turn to coat; refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight. Cover and refrigerate remaining marinade. , Add onion to remaining marinade; toss to coat. Place on a double thickness of heavy-duty foil (about 18 in. square). Fold foil around onion mixture and seal tightly. Drain and discard marinade from bratwurst., Grill bratwurst and onion, covered, over medium heat or broil 4 in. from the heat for 15-20 minutes or until meat is no longer pink and onion is tender, turning frequently. Open foil carefully to allow steam to escape. Serve brats in buns with onion mixture.

4 (12 ounce) cans beer
1 large onion, diced
10 bratwurst
2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat. When hot, lightly oil grate.
  • Combine the beer and onions in a large pot; bring to a boil. Submerge the bratwurst in the beer; add the red pepper flakes, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Reduce heat to medium and cook another 10 to 12 minutes. Remove the bratwurst from the beer mixture; reduce heat to low, and continue cooking the onions.
  • Cook the bratwurst on the preheated grill, turning once, 5 to 10 minutes. Serve with the beer mixture as a topping or side.
