6 slices peppered bacon
3 1/4 cups tomato juice
1 1/4 cups bacon-flavored vodka (or regular vodka)
1/3 cup fresh lemon juice (from about 3 lemons)
1 tablespoon horseradish
2 teaspoons chipotle hot sauce
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon celery salt
Freshly ground pepper
6 stalks celery with leaves

Steps:

  • Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crisp, 9 to 11 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
  • Meanwhile, combine the tomato juice, vodka, lemon juice, horseradish, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, celery salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper in a pitcher; refrigerate until ready to serve.
  • Pour the Bloody Mary mixture into 6 large ice-filled glasses. Add a piece of bacon and a celery stalk to each.

1 teaspoon sea salt
1 cup ice cubes
1 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger vodka
¾ cup spicy tomato-vegetable juice cocktail (e.g., V-8)
2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
1 dash hot pepper sauce (e.g. Tabasco™)
salt and pepper to taste
1 stalk celery
2 stuffed green olives

Steps:

  • Salt the rim of a tall glass. To do so, pour salt onto a small plate, moisten the rim of the glass on a damp towel and press into the salt. Fill the glass with ice cubes.
  • In a cocktail mixer full of ice, combine the vodka, vegetable juice, Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce, salt and pepper. Shake vigorously and strain into the glass. Garnish with a stalk of celery and olives stuck onto a toothpick.

This is no ordinary bloody, thanks to a combination of both tangy and spicy ingredients plus the surprise addition of Zatarain's powdered crab boil, a super-charged spice mix that's well worth the effort to seek out.

2 quarts low-sodium tomato juice
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup pickled okra brine
1/2 cup Spanish olive brine
1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
1/3 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons celery seeds
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon Tabasco Chipotle sauce
2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon Zatarain's powdered crab boil
4 cups vodka (preferably Tito's)
Pickled green beans, pickled okra, and celery stalks (for garnish)

Steps:

  • Whisk tomato juice, lemon juice, okra brine, olive brine, horseradish, soy sauce, celery seeds, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco Chipotle sauce, pepper, and crab boil in a large bowl or pitcher. Chill at least 2 hours or up to overnight.
  • Add vodka to tomato juice mixture; stir well. Serve cocktail in glasses over ice and garnish with green beans, okra, and celery.

This is my Wisconsin version of a classic Bloody Mary drink. On special occasions, garnish with skewered bite-size pieces of Wisconsin Cheddar, Monterey Jack, pepperoni, salami, green olives or cocktail shrimp on top. Best when consumed before noon.

3 pimento-stuffed green olives
1 tablespoon brine from olive jar
½ teaspoon celery salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
3 dashes Dash Worcestershire sauce
3 dashes hot pepper sauce (e.g. Texas Pete's™)
1 cup tomato and clam juice cocktail
1 stalk celery, with leaves

Steps:

  • Fill a large tumbler with ice cubes. Pour in the vodka, then drop in the olives and the olive brine. Season with celery salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce and hot pepper sauce. Fill the remainder of the glass with tomato and clam juice cocktail. Stir with the celery stalk and leave it in as a garnish. Sprinkle with a little bit of celery salt before serving.
