DR PEPPER BROWNIES

½ cup butter
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup brown sugar
3 large eggs
¼ cup Dr Pepper
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon instant coffee
⅓ cup cocoa powder
½ teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Add butter and chocolate chips to a microwave-safe mixing bowl and cook for 30 seconds, stir and microwave for another 30 seconds. Repeat if necessary. Add brown sugar and eggs and mix until combined. Stir in Dr Pepper. Add flour, cocoa powder, instant coffee, vanilla extract and salt. Stir until combined. Pour into a greased 9x9 baking pan. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes, let stand for 5 minutes in the pan and then transfer to a cooling rack.

4 ounces unsweetened chocolate squares (4, 1 ounce each)
1 cup butter
3/4 teaspoon black pepper
4 eggs, lightly beaten
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1/3 cup Kahlua
2 tablespoons vodka
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup chopped walnuts or 1 cup toasted sliced almonds
powdered sugar (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line bottom of 13x9 inch baking pan with waxed paper.
  • Melt chocolate and butter with pepper in small saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and cool.
  • Combine eggs, sugar and vanilla in large bowl, beat well. Stir in cooled chocolate mixture, Kaluha and vodka.
  • Combine flour, salt and baking powder and add to chocolate mixture. Stir until blended. Add walnuts. Spread in prepared pan.
  • Bake in preheated oven just until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, about 25 minutes. Do not over bake.
  • Cool in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired.

1 (12 fl oz) can caffeinated pepper-type soda (such as Dr Pepper®)
1 cup butter
12 strips bacon, chopped
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups white sugar
¼ cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
½ cup buttermilk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 (12 ounce) bag milk chocolate chips
½ cup butter
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 (16 ounce) package confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 12x18-inch pan with cooking spray.
  • Combine 1 cup pepper-type soda and 1 cup butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat; heat until butter is melted, 3 to 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
  • Place bacon in a large skillet and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 8 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
  • Mix flour, white sugar, 1/4 cup cocoa powder, cinnamon, and salt together in a large bowl.
  • Whisk buttermilk, vanilla extract, and baking soda together in a small bowl. Pour flour mixture; mix until batter is blended. Add butter mixture, 1/3 of the bacon, and chocolate chips; mix thoroughly. Spread in the prepared pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until top is dry and edges have started to pull away from the sides of the pan, 25 to 30 minutes.
  • Combine 6 tablespoons pepper-type soda, 1/2 cup butter, and 3 tablespoons cocoa powder in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Add 1/2 of the remaining bacon and confectioners' sugar; whisk until frosting is smooth.
  • Spread frosting over brownies. Garnish with remaining bacon. Cool until frosting sets, about 20 minutes. Cut into squares.
