"This sparkling punch has been a lifesaver for many last-minute showers, parties and get-togethers, because it's quick and inexpensive," says Kelly Wilson of Bloomington, Indiana. "You can use any flavor soft drink mix for a different flavor and color, but black cherry is my favorite. For a lighter version, replace the sugar and soft drink mix with sugar-free Kool-Aid, and substitute diet soda as well," she adds.

1 cup sugar
2 envelopes unsweetened black cherry Kool-Aid mix
1 cup hot water
2 liters lemon-lime soda, chilled
2 liters ginger ale, chilled

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, stir the sugar, Kool-Aid mix and hot water until sugar is dissolved. Cool to room temperature. Just before serving, combine the soft drink mixture, lemon-lime soda and ginger ale in a large punch bowl.

3/4 cup thawed lemonade concentrate
1 can (6 ounces) frozen limeade concentrate, thawed
1 can (20 ounces) pineapple chunks, undrained
2 cups water
2 liters cherry soda, chilled
2 liters ginger ale, chilled
Optional: Lemon slices and lime slices

Steps:

  • In a blender, combine concentrates and pineapple; cover and blend until smooth. Pour into a gallon-sized container; stir in water. Store in the refrigerator. To serve, pour the mixture into a punch bowl; add cherry soda and ginger ale. Garnish with lemon and lime slices if desired.

1/2 cup fresh lemon juice, strained
1/2 cup fresh orange juice, strained
1/4 cup fresh lime juice, strained
1/4 cup superfine granulated sugar
1 pound fresh black cherries, pitted (or a 17-ounce can pitted black cherries, drained)
2 cups light rum
1/2 cup dark rum
1/2 cup Cherry Heering
1/2 cup crème de cassis
4 cups chilled seltzer or club soda
Garnish: thin lime slices

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine lemon juice, orange juice and lime juice. Stir in sugar and continuestirring until dissolved. Stir in cherries, light rum, dark rum, Cherry Heering and crème de cassis. Chill for 1 hour. Transfer to a punch bowl and stir in the seltzer. Add a block of ice or ice cubes. Garnish the punch with lime slices.
