Coming from the Ben and Jerry's ice cream and dessert book, it's sure to be a hit. Replace the Kit Kat pieces with Rolos if you like caramel.

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 (1 5/8 ounce) Kit Kat bars
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 large eggs
3/4 cup sugar
2 cups heavy cream or 2 cups whipping cream
1 cup milk

Steps:

  • Whisk the eggs in a large mixing bowl, until light and fluffy.
  • Whisk in the sugar, a little at a time, then continue whisking until completely blended(About one minute more). Set aside.
  • Pour in the cream, vanilla and milk and whisk to blend. Then refrigerate for about an hour.
  • Cut the candy bars into bite size pieces. Cover and refrigerate.
  • Transfer the mixture from the refrigerator to an ice cream maker and freeze according to the manufacturers instructions.
  • Add the chopped Kit Kat pieces to the mixture about 2 minutes til the end of the cycle.

4 Kit Kat bars 1.6 ounces each
2 eggs
3/4 cup refined sugar
2 cups whipping cream
1 cup milk
2 tsp vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Using a knife, chop the candy bars into bite sized pieces. Refrigerate in a covered bowl. Mix eggs, sugar, cream, and milk in a bowl, add vanilla extract. Transfer mixture to an ice cream maker and chill following manufacturers instructions. After ice cream stiffens, just before its done, add Kit Kats and continue freezing until ready.

VARIATION: Chocolate Almond- Add 1 cup roasted whole almonds (salted or unsalted) after the ice cream stiffens, about 2 minutes before it is done, then continue to freeze until the ice cream is ready.

1 cup milk
2 large eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup heavy cream or 1 cup whipping cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 pinch salt

Steps:

  • Gradually whisk chocolate into the milk and heat, stirring constantly, until smooth.
  • Remove from the heat and let cool.
  • Whisk the eggs in a mixing bowl until light anf fluffy, 1-2 minutes.
  • Whisk in the sugar, a little at a time, then continue whisking until completely blended, about 1 minute more.
  • Add the cream, vanilla and salt and whisk to blend.
  • Pour the chocolate mixture into the cream mixture and blend.
  • Cover and refrigerate until cold, about 1-3 hours, depending on your refrigerator.
  • Transfer the mixture to an ice cream maker and freeze following the manufacturer's instructions.
