This is a SC Lowcountry recipe. Very easy!

1 pound smoked sausage links, sliced
10 frozen small corn cobs
10 small red potatoes
1 (3 ounce) package dry crab boil
1 ½ pounds unpeeled, large fresh shrimp
salt to taste

Steps:

  • Place the sausage, corn, potatoes, and dry crab boil seasoning mix in a large pot filled with enough water to cover. Bring to a boil over high heat.
  • Reduce the heat to low and simmer until potatoes are tender, about 15 minutes. Mix in the shrimp, and continue cooking until opaque, 2 to 3 minutes. Drain, season with salt, and serve hot.

Also known as Beaufort Stew or Low country Boil. When I was in Florida last year we had this at a picnic, it was a big hit and I now fix it at home for company in the summer on the deck.

1/3 cup Old Bay Seasoning
4 lbs small red potatoes
2 lbs kielbasa or 2 lbs hot smoked sausage, cut into 1/2 inch slices
6 ears fresh corn, halved
4 lbs unpeeled shrimp
additional Old Bay Seasoning
seafood cocktail sauce

Steps:

  • Fill large container of a propane cooker halfway with water.
  • Add 1/4 cup Old Bay seasoning, Bring to a boil.
  • Add potatoes, return to a boil, and cook 10 minutes.
  • Add sausage and corn; return to a boil, and cook 10 minutes.
  • Make sure potatoes are done at this point.
  • Add shrimp, cook 3-5 minutes.
  • Remove with a slotted spoon onto a serving platter or newspaper.
  • Serve with additional old bay and cocktail sauce.

1 lb kielbasa, cut into 1 inch diagonal sections
10 frozen baby sweet corn cobs (or 5 fresh broken in half)
3 lbs shrimp
3 lbs tiny new potatoes, lightly scrubbed
1/3 cup Old Bay Seasoning
seafood cocktail sauce, for dipping
butter, for corn

Steps:

  • Bring a large stock pot of water to a boil. Add Old Bay, potatoes and sausage.
  • Cook 15 minutes maintaining the boil.
  • Add corn and shrimp, returning liquid to a boil. Cook for 5 minutes.
  • Dump into large colander to drain.
  • Transfer to large serving platter and serve with plenty of napkins and condiments.
