3/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons mesquite seasoning
4-1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
4-1/2 teaspoons paprika
1 tablespoon dried minced onion
1 tablespoon seasoned salt
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 tablespoon pepper
1 teaspoon salt
8 pounds pork spareribs, cut into serving size pieces
3-1/2 cups barbecue sauce

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the first 10 ingredients. Rub over ribs; cover and refrigerate overnight., Place ribs bone side down on a rack in a shallow roasting pan. Cover and bake at 350° for 1 hour; drain. Brush some of the barbecue sauce over ribs. Bake, uncovered, for 30-45 minutes or until tender, basting occasionally with barbecue sauce.

1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons chili powder
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
2 racks baby back ribs
1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 cup barbecue sauce

Steps:

  • Combine the brown sugar, chili powder, 1 tablespoon salt, 1 teaspoon black pepper, the oregano, cayenne, garlic powder and onion powder in a small bowl and rub the mixture on both sides of the ribs. Cover and refrigerate 1 hour or overnight.
  • Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F. In a roasting pan, combine the broth and vinegar. Add the ribs to the pan. Cover with foil and tightly seal. Bake 2 hours. Remove the ribs from the pan and place them on a platter. Pour the liquid from the pan into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Lower the heat to a simmer and cook until reduced by half. Add the barbecue sauce.
  • Preheat an outdoor grill to medium high. Put the ribs on the grill and cook about 5 minutes on each side, until browned and slightly charred. Cut the ribs between the bones and toss them in a large bowl with the sauce. Serve hot.

I got this one, like so many others out of a book titled "Top Secret Recipes". The book suggests that you serve with coleslaw and corn on the cob.

2 lb pork loin ribs
dry spice rub (recipe follows)
4 c canned tomato sauce
1/2 c diced tomatoes
1/4 c firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
2 Tbsp dried onion
1/4 c soy sauce
1/4 c water
DRY SPICE RUB
1 c chili powder
1 Tbsp garlic granules
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp cumin
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 Tbsp seasoned salt
combine ingredients in jar and store covered in dry place.

Steps:

  • 1. Rub ribs well with some of the Dry Spice Rub and refrigerate, covered, for 4 to 6 hours.
  • 2. In a saucepan combine tomato sauce, tomato, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, onion, soy sauce, water, and 1/2 cup Dry Spice Rub and cook over very low heat for 3 hours.
  • 3. Preheat a grill or smoker over low heat until hot. Add ribs and cook, covered, for 3 to 5 hours. Brush with sauce during last minutes of cooking. Serve with remaining sauce.
