Slow-Cooker Bavarian-Style Round Steak with Red Onions and Noodles image

It's easy to bring Old-World flavor to your dinner table! Just turn to savory round steak conveniently prepared in a slow-cooker.

2 large red onions, cut in half and sliced
2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon beef base
2 1/2 pounds beef round steak, trimmed of fat and cut into serving-size portions
1 tablespoon Gold Medalâ„¢ all-purpose flour
1 package (16 ounces) wide egg noodles

Steps:

  • Place onions in 4- to 5-quart slow cooker. Top with brown sugar, vinegar, salt and beef base. Top with beef. Sprinkle flour over beef.
  • Cover and cook on low heat setting 7 to 8 hours.
  • About 15 minutes before serving, cook and drain noodles as directed on package. To serve, pour onions and broth over beef and noodles.

2 cups uncooked egg noodles
1 medium apple, chopped
1/4 teaspoon caraway seeds
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

Steps:

  • Cook noodles according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, saute apple and caraway in butter until apple is crisp-tender. Stir in the honey and mustard. , Drain noodles; stir into apple mixture. Cook until heated through.

2 Tbsp packed brown sugar
2 Tbsp cider vinegar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp beef base (i like better than bouillon brand)
2 1/2 lb beef round steak, trimmed of fat and cut into serving-size portions
1 Tbsp all-purpose flour
16-oz pkg wide egg noodles
sour cream, to serve (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Place onions in a 4- to 5-quart slow cooker. Top with brown sugar, vinegar, salt and beef base. Top with beef. Sprinkle flour over beef.
  • 2. Cover slow cooker, set on Low heat and cook 7 to 8 hours.
  • 3. About 15 minutes before serving, cook noodles according to package directions and drain.
  • 4. To serve, place noodles on serving plates and ladle some of the meat and onion mixture over the noodles. Top each serving with a dollop of sour cream, if desired.
