One of our favourite foodie trends is taking a beloved recipe or dish and giving it a new twist. This recipe takes all the flavours of a classic banana split (strawberry, pineapple, banana, coconut and chocolate) blended into a luscious, retro milkshake.

4 large scoops vanilla ice cream
1 banana
½ cup frozen sliced strawberries
½ cup crushed pineapple with juice
¼ cup chocolate syrup, or as needed
Gay Lea Real Coconut Whipped Cream
4 Maraschino cherries

Steps:

  • Combine ice cream, banana, strawberries, pineapple and chocolate syrup in a blender. Blend until smooth.
  • Divide shake between 2 large (or 4 smaller) glasses. Squirt a generous amount of coconut whipped cream on top. Garnish with additional chocolate syrup and a cherry (if using). Serve immediately.

Milk shake:
3 cups strawberry ice cream
2 bananas, peeled and halved
2 cups whole milk
1/2 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
Garnish:
4 oz whipped topping
4 Tbsp caramel sauce
4 Tbsp chocolate syrup
1/3 cup walnuts, chopped and toasted
4 maraschino cherries

Steps:

  • Place the strawberry ice cream, bananas, milk, and chocolate chips in a blender. Blend for about 40 seconds until smooth. (Allow a few chocolate chips to stay whole). Divide the mixture into four tall glasses. Top each glass with 1 oz of whipped topping. Drizzle 1 Tbsp of caramel sauce and 1 Tbsp of chocolate syrup on the whipped topping. Divide the walnuts among the shakes. Then finish each milk shake with a cherry.

1/4 cup milk
1 banana
5 maraschino cherries (drained) or 5 strawberries
1/4 cup crushed pineapple (optional)
1 tablespoon chocolate syrup
4 cups ice cream or 4 cups frozen yogurt (chocolate preferrably)

Steps:

  • In a blender, combine milk, banana, cherries or strawberries and chocolate syrup, blend on high until ingredients are well blended.
  • Add ice cream in 4 equal increments,blend on high for about 10 seconds or so after each addition, blend until thick and smooth.
  • Serve with a cherry on top and a tall straw.
  • Enjoy!
