BAKED HAMBURGER PATTIES WITH PASTA SAUCE

Baked Hamburger Patties With Pasta Sauce image

I have made this easy recipe many times, it is really good, make certain that you purchase a larger crusty Italian-style bun that will hold up to the sauce --- yield is only estimated depending on how large you make the patties, and all ingredients can be adjusted to suite taste :)

Categories     Cheese

Time 50m

Yield 6-8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 lbs ground beef
3 cups favorite pasta sauce (can use more, my pasta sauce Kittencal's Italian Tomato Pasta Sauce and Parmesan Meatballs works well for this)
flour, for dipping
8 -10 hamburger buns
1 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese
1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Grease a 13 x 9-inch baking dish.
  • Flavor the ground beef with your favorite ingredients.
  • Shape into about 8 patties.
  • Coat the hamburger patties with flour.
  • In a large skillet, brown the patties on both sides in butter, then arrange in the baking dish.
  • Pour half of the pasta sauce over the patties, and spread the sauce with a spoon to cover the patties (do not worry if they are not completely covered with the sauce).
  • Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, then cheddar cheese.
  • Top with remaining sauce.
  • Bake in a 400°F oven for about 25 minutes, or until patties are no longer pink.
  • Serve the patties and the sauce on buns and sprinkle more cheese on if desired.

BAKED HAMBURGERS

Baked Hamburgers image

This baked hamburgers recipe is hearty and moist. The onion gives it a special flavor, and the sweet-flavored sauce further enhances the taste. I serve these as an entree with accompanying vegetables or on a bun as a sandwich. -Marg Bisgrove, Widewater, Alberta

Categories     main-dish

Time 50m

Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 17

Kosher salt
3 stale hamburger buns
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1/2 cup whole milk
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup finely chopped dill pickle slices, plus pickle slices for serving
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Freshly ground pepper
3 ounces sharp white cheddar cheese (half cut into 24 small cubes, half grated)
12 ounces spaghetti
4 cloves garlic, sliced
2 tablespoons tomato paste
Thinly sliced romaine lettuce, for topping
Diced tomato, for topping

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil for the pasta. In a food processor, pulse 2 buns into coarse crumbs. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the crumbs and toast 3 minutes. Transfer to a bowl. Wipe out the skillet.
  • Tear up the remaining bun; soak in a large bowl with the milk, 5 minutes. Drain, squeezing the excess milk from the bread. Combine the soaked bread, half of the toasted crumbs, the ground beef, onion, chopped pickles, 2 tablespoons ketchup, the mustard, Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper to taste in the bowl and mix by hand.
  • Divide the meat mixture into 24 pieces. Press a cheese cube into the center of each and shape into meatballs around the cheese.
  • Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil in the same skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned, about 2 minutes per side. Transfer the meatballs to a baking sheet; bake until just cooked through, about 5 minutes. Reserve the skillet.
  • Cook the pasta as the label directs. Meanwhile, add the garlic to the reserved skillet; cook over medium heat until golden, about 30 seconds. Add the tomato paste and the remaining 2 tablespoons ketchup; cook 1 minute, then stir in 1 cup pasta cooking water until smooth. Simmer until slightly thickened, about 3 minutes. Drain the pasta, add to the skillet and toss to coat. Divide the pasta among bowls and top with the remaining toasted breadcrumbs, the meatballs, grated cheddar, lettuce and tomato. Serve with pickle slices on the side.

HAMBURGER PATTIES

Hamburger Patties image

Perfect burgers every time! There is quite a debate about the origin of the popular American hamburger. I will side with the Wisconsin theory, and attribute this recipe to the Midwest U.S. region.

Time 15m

Yield 6-8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 lbs ground beef (80 - 85% lean, more lean is too dry)
2 tablespoons dried onion flakes
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • Sometimes I vary the seasonings- using a steak seasoning or Cajun seasoning instead of salt and pepper.
  • Mix ingredients with your hands using a light touch.
  • Don't be tempted to overmix.
  • If you do, it becomes too dense.
  • When charcoal grilling, add 1/2 cup water to the beef mixture to keep it from drying out.
  • For pan frying, don't use a nonstick pan- it won't brown as well, and heat some oil in the pan before adding burgers to keep the burgers from sticking and to help sear and form a nice brown, crispy exterior.
  • Either method will take about 10- 12 minutes of cooking time, depending on thickness of patty, temperature of heat source and your preference (we like ours medium cooked).
  • Note: when pan-frying don't be tempted to press down and squeeze all the juice out, just turn them more often (turn only once on the grill).

GRILLED HAMBURGER PATTIES

Grilled Hamburger Patties image

They called this Salisbury steak but I wasn't seeing it. Has oatmeal in with the hamburger, grilled or baked in oven. I baked this in the oven with 4 patties. It is like mini meatloaves.
