BACON-WRAPPED GREEN BEANS

Categories     Bean

Number Of Ingredients 10

You will need:
1 ea. cutting board
1 ea. 9"x13" pyrex (maybe metal will work?.. ) pan
1 pkg. toothpicks (not colored)
1 pkg. light or dark brown sugar (Davis prefers dark)
1 btl. Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce
4 cn. whole green beans (that's important -- WHOLE and not the big fat can, just the normal can).
1 pkg. reg'lar ol' bacon. (no smoked, no special flavoring)
1 pkg. garlic powder
2 sticks unsalted butter (not sure really how much Dave uses)

Steps:

  • Prep: Preheat Oven to 400 deg. Open and cut package of bacon in half (2 slices per original slice) Open and drain green beans onto a cutting board. Assembly: Bundle 6-10 green beans together using a slice of bacon as a wrap, skewering with toothpick. Place bundle in 9x13 pan. (repeat this process until you run out of: a) space b) green beans c) bacon.) Finish: Sprinkle Garlic powder over all the bundles (kind of liberally, but not too much) Shake a generous portion (2-3 splashes) of L&P Worcestershire sauce on each bundle Mound a healthy rounded Tbs. of brown sugar on top of each bundle Place 1/4 pad of butter (about 1tsp?) on each bundle. Bake: Bake in 400 degree oven for 50 min. to 1 hour: (Until bacon is done and green beans are slightly shrinking at the edges and the sugar has somewhat caramelized over the bundle) Let cool. These are great served warm and can damage your gums if served hot. (remember, melted sugar!) Astound: Pretend this is something you whipped up as an original dish when you realized you forgot chicken livers for rumaki. Then astound your guests with tidbits about rumaki: "Did you know people believe Trader Vic invented rumaki?" "Oh yes, it happened on a restaurant menu around 1941 .. I think in Florida" (source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rumaki)

BACON WRAPPED GREEN BEANS (EASY RECIPE!) - FIT FOODIE FINDS

Bacon Wrapped Green Beans (easy recipe!) - Fit Foodie Finds image

These Bacon Wrapped Green Beans are the perfect holiday appetizer or side! Easy to make and ready in under 30 minutes -- what's not to love?!

Provided by @MakeItYours

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 lb. thick-cut bacon (10-12 strips)
1 lb. fresh green beans, ends trimmed
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon minced fresh thyme
1 tablespoon minced fresh rosemary
1/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • First, preheat oven to 400ºF and place a wire rack on top of a baking sheet. Then, place the uncooked bacon on top of wire rack making sure they are not touching. Bake at 400ºF for 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, prepare green beans. Rinse and pat dry. Then, snip the ends off of your green beans.
  • bring a large pot of water to a boil, then blanch green beans for 1 minute. Remove from heat and strain. This step will prevent your green beans from losing color. However, it does require another pot and more time. Note: we did NOT do this step for our photos.
  • Place green beans in a large bowl and then top with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, thyme, rosemary, parmesan, salt, and pepper. Toss to combine everything.
  • Once the bacon has cooked for 10 minutes, remove from oven and set aside. Using the same baking sheet, use a piece of paper towel to spread out the bacon grease to grease the pan.
  • Then, lay a piece of bacon on the baking sheet and place 8-10 green beans on top. Roll the bacon up, securing the green beans bundle. Repeat until all bacon is gone. You will likely have lots of leftover herbs and cheese. Don't throw that away! Sprinkle every last bit on top of the green beans.
  • Bake bacon-wrapped green beans for around 20 minutes at 400ºF or until the bacon is cooked and browned.

BACON WRAPPED GREEN BEANS

Categories     Bean     Vegetable     Bacon

Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 lb fresh green beans
6 strips of bacon
3 tbsp butter, melted
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp chile powder

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Cut off both ends of the green beans so they are now equal in length. Boil 3-4 cups of water in a small sauce pan and add beas. Boil for about 6-7 minutes or until beans are slightly cooked. Remove from heat and drain. Cook the bacon strips until almost done - so they are still soft enough to easily be wrapped around the green beans without breaking. Once the bacon is cool enough to handle, wrap one piece around 5-6 green beans. I like to make sure that I can lay the wrapped beans down on a baking sheet with the end of the bacon underneath, so it doesn't fall apart while cooking. Once the wraps are baked with the brown sugar glaze, the bacon will stick together well and hold it's shape. Place your wrapped beans on a baking sheet, leaving at least an inch in between each one. Heat butter in a sauce pan on medium high and add garlic, then brown sugar. Stir for 3-4 minutes or until thoroughly combined. Cover each green bean wrap with 1 1/ 2 - 2 tsp of glaze. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until bacon is crisp and serve hot!
