Provided by Guy Fieri

Categories     appetizer

Time 1h20m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 18

3 pounds fresh chicken wings, tips removed and wings cut into drummette and middle "flat" with 2 bones
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup dark miso paste
1/2 cup white miso paste
3 tablespoons mirin
3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons sesame oil
1 1/2 tablespoons seasoned rice wine vinegar

Canola oil, for deep frying
1 cup cornstarch
1 cup all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 tablespoon ground ginger

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Sprinkle the wings with salt and pepper and place onto a baking sheet. Place into the oven and roast until crispy and the fat has rendered out, 35 to 40 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool.
  • For the glaze: In a small saucepan, combine the dark miso paste, white miso paste, 1/4 cup lukewarm water, mirin, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice wine vinegar, garlic powder, brown sugar and 1 tablespoon sambal. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until reduced and the sauce has slightly thickened, 5 to 7 minutes. Remove from the heat, add the honey and stir well.

ROASTED ASIAN CHICKEN WINGS

Roasted Asian Chicken Wings image

Provided by Food Network

Categories     appetizer

Time 1h30m

Yield 4 to 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 17

5 pounds chicken wings, separated at the joints, wing tips reserved for another use
1 tablespoon Emeril's Asian Essence
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper
2 cups fresh orange juice
1 cup canned pineapple juice
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup mirin
2 tablespoons orange zest
2 tablespoons minced garlic
2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger
2 tablespoons minced green onions
1 tablespoon sesame oil
3/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
2 tablespoons diagonally sliced green onions, for garnish

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F and line a baking sheet with 1-inch sides with aluminum foil.
  • In a large bowl, season the chicken wings with the Essence, salt and pepper, tossing to coat well. Spread the seasoned wings in the prepared roasting pan evenly and bake until browned, about 35 minutes.
  • While the wings are baking, in a large skillet, combine the remaining ingredients set over medium-high heat, except the sesame seeds and green onions. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is dissolved and the liquid has reduced to a syrup, 7 to 8 minutes. Remove from the heat and cover to keep warm until ready to use.

  • Place the wings in a large, heat-proof bowl. Drizzle half the prepared sauce over the wings, reserving the other half, tossing to coat well. Sprinkle the sesame seeds over the wings and toss again. Place a wire cooling rack inside a large baking sheet lined with aluminum foil and arrange the coated wings on top of the rack. Return the pan to the oven and bake an additional 20 to 25 minutes, or until cooked through and crispy.
  • Arrange the wings on a large serving platter and top with sliced green onions. Serve immediately with the remaining sauce passed on the side for dipping.

ASIAN ENOUGH GRILLED CHICKEN WINGS

Asian Enough Grilled Chicken Wings image

This recipe's a winner - it's got enough flavour for the more adventurous in the crowd and yet it's not spicy at all. It is a sweet and oh so tasty recipe. I did NOT include the overnight marinating time. Enjoy!

Provided by Nif_H

Categories     Chicken

Time 25m

Yield 6-8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

4 lbs chicken wings
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup white sugar
1/4 cup gin
2 tablespoons garlic cloves, mashed
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 cup oyster sauce
1/2 cup teriyaki sauce

Steps:

  • Mix up the marinade ingredients. Toss in the chicken wings, stir and then let marinate overnight. It's a good idea to reserve some of the marinade (before adding the chicken) and keep it for basting your wings as they come off the grill.
  • Preheat grill to medium heat.
  • Place your wings on the grill. Remember, there's lots of honey and sugar in this recipe. So, don't let the heat get too high and keep the wings turning.
  • After about 15 to 20 minutes your wings should be cooked through, depending on your grill. Remove from grill.
  • Baste the wings with your reserved marinade and enjoy.

ASIAN CARAMEL CHICKEN WINGS

Asian caramel chicken wings image

Using dark caramel in savoury dishes is common in Asian cooking- it adds depth of flavour and contrasts well with sour and spicy notes

Provided by Barney Desmazery

Categories     Main course, Starter

Time 1h25m

Number Of Ingredients 12

100g golden caster sugar
4 tbsp gluten-free fish sauce
1 green chilli , halved (optional)
small piece cinnamon bark
small piece ginger , finely chopped
juice 1 large lime , plus extra for squeezing over
1kg chicken wing , tips removed and cut in half
small bunch spring onion , cut into 1cm lengths
large piece ginger , cut into matchsticks
1 green chilli (seeds removed if you don't like it too hot), cut into rings
handful coriander sprigs
boiled white rice , to serve

Steps:

  • Put the sugar in a medium sauté pan with enough water to make it go sludgy. Place on a low heat and bring to the boil, then cook until you have a dark amber caramel (see tip, below).
  • At arms length, add the other ingredients, except for the chicken and garnish, and bring to a simmer - take care as it will spit. Once it has calmed down a little and you have a thick sauce, stir in the wings until well coated. Pour over 100ml water and simmer on a medium heat for about 30 mins, stirring every now and then until the sauce is a thicker consistency - add a splash more water if needed.
  • Turn down the heat and continue to cook, covered, for a further 15 mins, stirring occasionally, until the wings are lacquered and tender and the sauce is very thick. Turn off the heat and quickly stir through half the spring onion, ginger and chilli. Tip the wings and sauce onto a platter. Scatter with the remaining garnish and coriander, and serve with extra lime and rice.

ASIAN CHICKEN WINGS WITH PEANUT SAUCE

Asian Chicken Wings With Peanut Sauce image

The humble chicken wing fries up to an irresistibly crisp goodness, as legions of football fans can attest. But in this recipe, Craig Claiborne delivers an Indonesian twist on the old American standby: a soy marinade that sounds a bass note in the deep-fried result, excellent with a spicy dipping sauce on the side. It's a long way from Buffalo, but they're more than fit for game day.

Provided by Craig Claiborne And Pierre Franey

Categories     appetizer

Time 40m

Yield Four to six servings

Number Of Ingredients 16

16 large, meaty chicken wings, about 3 1/2 pounds
Salt to taste, if desired
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 tablespoon powdered cumin
1 1/2 teaspoons turmeric
Oil for deep frying
1 sweet red pepper, about 1/2 pound
1 tablespoon corn, peanut or vegetable oil
2 tablespoons finely chopped shallots
2 tablespoons curry powder or curry paste
1 cup coconut cream or milk
1/2 cup chunk-style peanut butter
1 teaspoon sugar
Cucumber salad (see recipe)

Steps:

  • Cut the chicken wings into three parts, main wing bone, second joint and wing tip. Discard the tips or use them for soup.
  • Put the chicken pieces into a mixing bowl and add salt, soy sauce, sugar, lemon juice, cumin and turmeric. Blend well. Let stand while preparing the peanut sauce.
  • Preheat the broiler to high and roast the pepper all over until the skin is charred. Place the pepper under cold running water and pull off the charred skin. Split the pepper open and remove the seeds and veins. Chop the pepper coarsely.
  • Heat the oil in a small skillet and add the shallots. Cook briefly, stirring, and add the curry powder or curry paste. Cook briefly and add the chopped pepper and stir. Remove from the heat.
  • Bring the coconut cream to the boil. Pour and scrape the pepper mixture into the cream. Add the peanut butter and sugar and let simmer about five minutes.
  • Pour the mixture into the container of a food processor or electric blender. Blend thoroughly. Return the mixture to a saucepan and bring to the simmer. If desired, the sauce may be thinned with up to one-quarter cup of water.
  • Heat enough oil to cover the chicken pieces well when they are added. It may be advisable to cook only half of the chicken pieces at a time. Heat the oil to a temperature of 360 degrees. Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are crisp and golden brown. Remove the pieces and drain on absorbent toweling. Repeat if necessary until all the pieces are cooked and drained.
  • Serve the hot sauce on the side as a dip for the deep-fried chicken pieces. Serve with a cucumber salad on the side.

CROCK POT ASIAN GARLIC CHICKEN WINGS BY NOR

Crock Pot Asian Garlic Chicken Wings by Nor image

I make a lot of different style wings. I created this recipe because we love Chinese Garlic Chicken. The wings were a big hit in my home. I'm sure they will be a hit at your next party, or game day too. This recipe would also work well as a marinade for grilled chicken. Enjoy!

Provided by Nor Mac

Categories     Poultry Appetizers

Time 2h15m

Number Of Ingredients 14

4 - 5 lb chicken wings
1 c lower sodium soy sauce
NOTE: YOU CAN USE REGULAR SOY SAUCE AND TERIYAKI. I PREFER LOW SODIUM FOR WINGS.
1/4 c hoisin sauce
1/4 c cider vinegar
1/4 c lower sodium teriyaki sauce
1/4 c honey
1/4 c tomato ketchup regular or gluten free
1/2 c brown sugar
7 clove grated or minced garlic
3 Tbsp minced onion or 4 chopped green onions including bulb.
1/2 tsp 5 spice powder
1/4- 1/2 tsp white or black pepper
NOTE: MARINATED GRILLED CHICKEN. PLACE INGREDIENTS IN A BOWL. MIX TO COMBINE. ADD BONELESS CHICKEN BREAST OR BONELESS THIGHS. MARINATE A FEW HOURS BEFORE GRILLING.

Steps:

  • 1. Place all of the ingredients eccept chicken in a large bowl. Mix well and set aside in fridge.
  • 2. Prepare chicken. You can cut the tips of the wings off. After you cut tips off. Cut the wings in half at the joint if you wish. I chose not to do it for this time. Cutting them makes them go further for a party.
  • 3. Heat oven to broil on high heat. Foil line a large baking pan. Place wings on pan and place under broiler. Broil until browned. Flip and broil other side until brown. It will take about 20 minutes or so.
  • 4. Remove wings from baking pan. Place the wings in the crock pot.
  • 5. Pour the sauce over the wings and toss to combine well.
  • 6. Cover and cook on high for 2 hours or cook on low for 4 hours. Uncover once in a while and toss Wings through sauce. I usually do this every half hour.
  • 7. Transfer Wings to a foil lined baking pan. Pour some of the sauce over the wings. Place back under broiler until sauce is sticks and golden.
  • 8. Discard remaining sauce. You can place the wings in the crockpot to keep warm uncovered on low. Serve and enjoy.

Provided by RITZ Crackers

Categories     Trusted Brands: Recipes and Tips     RITZ

Time 45m

Yield 15

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 cup apple cider vinegar
⅓ cup soy sauce
⅓ cup water
2 cups brown sugar
6 serrano chile peppers, seeded and minced
2 tablespoons grated fresh ginger
1 teaspoon salt
1 quart canola oil for frying
3 pounds chicken wings, split and tips removed
42 RITZ Crackers, finely crushed
2 eggs, beaten

Steps:

  • Combine apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, water, brown sugar, Serrano peppers, ginger, and salt in a small saucepan. Bring mixture to a gentle boil over medium-high heat, stirring frequently. Continue cooking and stirring until reduced down by 1/3, about 20 minutes. The flavors will intensify as the sauce thickens and becomes syrupy. Divide the sauce, reserving 1 1/4 cups for serving.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Rinse wings and pat dry. Place about a cup of crushed crackers in a bowl for breading. Dip a chicken wing in the beaten egg and allow excess to drip off. Then coat chicken wing with RITZ cracker crumbs. Place chicken wing on a foil lined baking sheet. Repeat until all chicken is coated, adding more crushed crackers to bowl as needed.
  • Heat cooking oil in a 2.5-quart saucepan to 375 degrees F. Carefully place 3 to 4 chicken wings in hot oil and fry until crispy, 1 to 2 minutes. Remove wings with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Continue to fry the chicken in this manner until all are crispy.
  • Lightly spray two foil lined baking sheets with cooking spray. Using 3/4 cups sauce, lightly coat each chicken wing and place on foil lined baking sheet in a single layer trying not to crowd the chicken.
  • Place baking sheets in the preheated oven and bake until cooked through, 15 to 20 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted near the bone should read 165 degrees F (74 degrees C). Allow chicken to rest for 10 minutes; serve with reserved sauce, cucumber, carrots and enjoy!

ROASTED ASIAN CHICKEN WINGS

Roasted Asian Chicken Wings image

I found this recipe on the Food Network site and DH & I had these for dinner tonight (4/18/07). We feel that they need Kosher salt so I added it to the ingredients list. We sprinkled it on after they were cooked. The sauce will thicken a bit, but won't actually have a "syrupy" consistency. It's courtesy of Emeril and is delish!

Asian chicken wings are a favorite for many people because of its flavor, crispiness, and juicy meat. There are many variations of recipes that you can use to make Asian chicken wings, each with its distinctive taste. Whether you are making it for a party, a snack, or even dinner, it is essential to know valuable tips that can help you achieve the best results. In this article, we will look at valuable tips when making Asian chicken wings recipes.

Tips for Preparing the Chicken Wings

Before you start cooking your Asian chicken wings, it is essential first to prepare the chicken wings correctly. One of the mistakes that most people make when preparing the chicken wings is not cleaning them thoroughly. Here are some tips for preparing the chicken wings:
1. Clean and Pat Dry the Chicken Wings
Ensure that you clean and pat dry the chicken wings. This step is essential, especially if you are cooking frozen wings. When you buy pre-packaged wings, they often come with a lot of water, which can dilute the marinade and prevent the chicken from getting crispy. So, make sure to pat dry them with paper towels before marinating.
2. Dealing with the Wing Tips
Trim off the wing tips using kitchen scissors. The wing tips are small and have no meat, and they can burn quickly, so they are often removed. You can save them and use them to make chicken stock or discard them.
3. Separate the Wing Joints
Separate the wings into drumettes and wingettes by cutting through the joint between the two. This step is essential since different sections of the wings cook at different rates.

Tips for Marinating the Chicken Wings

Marinating is a crucial step when making Asian chicken wings. It adds flavor and aroma to the chicken, making it juicier and tender. Here are some tips for marinating the chicken wings:
1. Marinate the Chicken Overnight
Marinating the chicken overnight ensures that the flavors penetrate the meat fully. You can mix the marinade ingredients in a bowl or a sealable bag and put the chicken in the marinade. Leave it in the fridge overnight or at least for four hours. This technique helps make the chicken more flavorsome.
2. Use Acid and Salt in Your Marinade
Acidic ingredients such as rice vinegar, lime, or lemon juice break down the proteins in the chicken wings, making it tender and juicy. Salt also brings out the flavors in the chicken wings. When making the marinade, ensure that you add salt and an acidic ingredient.
3. Don't Overdo the Marinade
When making the marinade, it is essential not to overdo it as too much sauce can overpower the chicken wings' natural flavors. Ensure that the marinade is enough to coat the chicken, but not so much that it is dripping or puddling in the container.

Tips for Cooking the Chicken Wings

Cooking is the final and most important stage when making Asian chicken wings, and it determines the overall texture, flavor, and juiciness of the chicken wings. Here are some tips for cooking the chicken wings:
1. Bake the Chicken Wings
Baking is a healthy way of cooking chicken wings as it does not require any oil. When baking, ensure that you preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit, place the chicken wings on a wire rack on top of a baking sheet and bake for about 25 to 30 minutes, turning them halfway. Baking the chicken wings at high temperature ensures that they are crispy on the outside and juicy inside.
2. Fry the Chicken Wings
Frying is one of the most popular ways of cooking chicken wings as it gives them a crispy texture. When frying, ensure that you preheat the oil to 375 degrees Fahrenheit, use a thermometer to monitor the oil temperature, and fry the chicken wings for about 10 to 12 minutes.
3. Grill the Chicken Wings
Grilling is another excellent way of cooking chicken wings, and it gives them a smoky flavor. When grilling, preheat the grill to medium-high heat, brush the chicken wings with oil, and grill for about 10 minutes, turning occasionally.

Tips for Serving the Chicken Wings

Now that you have cooked your Asian chicken wings to perfection, it is time to serve them. Here are some tips for serving the chicken wings:
1. Serve with Dipping Sauce
Serve your chicken wings with a dipping sauce such as soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, or sweet chili sauce. Dipping sauces add an extra layer of flavor to the chicken wings.
2. Garnish with Fresh Herbs
Garnish your chicken wings with fresh herbs such as cilantro, parsley, or scallions. Herbs add color and extra fragrance to the chicken wings.
3. Serve with Vegetables
Serve your chicken wings with vegetables such as carrot sticks, celery, or cucumber. Vegetables complement the chicken wings and add an extra crunch. In conclusion, making Asian chicken wings recipes is fun and easy. By following these valuable tips, you can make chicken wings that are flavorful, juicy, and crispy. Remember to prepare the chicken wings correctly, marinate them with care, cook them to perfection, and serve them with delicious dipping sauce, fresh herbs, and vegetables.
