"DIRTY ARNOLD PALMER" COCKTAIL

I love good ol' lemonade and Southern sweet iced tea, so combining the two (1/2 lemonade & 1/2 iced tea to make one drink) was a brilliant idea of Mr Arnold Palmer. However, this one is "kicked-up a notch"....there's still lemonade in it, but in place of the sweet iced tea, I'm using Sweet Tea Vodka. Still refreshing & tasty as...

Provided by S I

Categories     Punches

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 bottle (fifth) sweet tea vodka, chilled*
64 oz lemonade, chilled
ice cubes (**see note)
lemon slices or wedges, for garnish

Steps:

  • 1. In a large pitcher, combine the chilled sweet tea vodka and lemonade; stir until well blended. Pour into ice filled glasses, garnish with a lemon slice or wedge. Enjoy!
  • 2. NOTES: * I like to chill both the sweet tea vodka and the lemonade so you're not diluting the drink with countless ice cubes. There are several brands of sweet tea vodkas on the market now, so you can take your pick. I use Seagram's brand alot. ** When I have time, I freeze lemonade with lemon slices in ice trays ahead of time and use them for this drink (and others). That way other than additional lemonade, there's no diluting of the drink. ~ TO MAKE ONE DRINK (in a Rocks glass): 3 oz Sweet Tea Vodka 3 oz Lemonade Fill a shaker with ice. Pour in the ingredients & shake vigorously so it's well blended. Strain into an ice filled Rocks glass and garnish with a lemon wedge.

Arnold Palmer, also known as "The King", was a legendary golfer who has left an indelible mark on the sport. But beyond his reputation as a sports icon, Palmer is also remembered for his unique beverage, which combines iced tea and lemonade. This concoction has been named after him and become a famous drink enjoyed by millions around the world. In this article, we will provide some valuable tips for making Arnold Palmer recipes that are sure to quench your thirst and dazzle your taste buds.

Choose The Right Tea

The first step in making a perfect Arnold Palmer is choosing the right tea. You can use any tea of your choice, but it's best to use black tea, such as English Breakfast or Darjeeling, as they blend well with lemonade. However, if you prefer green tea or herbal tea, go for it! Just keep in mind that it might affect the flavor of the final drink.
Tip: Ice Your Tea
Once you've brewed your tea, it's essential to chill it. But instead of letting it cool on its own, why not fast-track the process by pouring it over ice? This not only speeds up the cooling process but also helps prevent the tea from becoming diluted. Remember, tea is the crucial component of an Arnold Palmer, so you don't want to compromise its taste.

Make Fresh Lemonade

The next step is to make your lemonade. You can use store-bought lemonade, but nothing beats the taste of fresh homemade lemonade. It's easy to make, and you only need three ingredients: lemons, water, and sugar. Simply squeeze the juice of the lemons into a pitcher, add water and sugar, and mix well. Adjust the sweetness and tartness levels to your liking, and you're good to go.
Tip: Add Some Zest
If you want to take your lemonade to the next level, consider adding some lemon zest. The zest adds a fresh and zesty flavor to the drink, making it more enjoyable. To do this, simply grate the peel of a lemon and add it to your lemonade mix. You'll be amazed at how much of a difference it makes.

Get The Right Ratio

Now that you have your tea and lemonade, it's time to mix them up. The key to getting the right ratio of iced tea and lemonade is to start with equal parts and then adjust based on your preference. Some people prefer more tea than lemonade, while others prefer the opposite. It's entirely up to you, so use your taste buds as a guide and experiment until you get the perfect balance.
Tip: Mix In A Pitcher
When mixing your tea and lemonade, it's best to use a pitcher. This allows you to mix the two beverages thoroughly, ensuring that the flavors blend well. Plus, a pitcher is easier to pour into glasses, making it more convenient.

Add Some Extra Flavors

While the classic Arnold Palmer recipe calls for just iced tea and lemonade, there's no harm in adding some extra flavors to the mix. You can add fresh mint leaves, which add a refreshing and cooling sensation, or ginger syrup, which provides a hint of spiciness. You may also add fruit slices, such as oranges or strawberries, to give the drink a fruity twist.
Tip: Experiment With Syrups
If you want to add some extra sweetness to your Arnold Palmer, consider using syrups like honey or agave. These syrups provide a more natural sweetener than sugar, and they blend well with the lemonade and tea. You can also add flavored syrups, such as raspberry or lavender syrup, for an extra kick of flavor.

Serve It Cold

The final step in making the perfect Arnold Palmer is to serve it cold. This drink is best enjoyed over ice, and you can even add some more ice cubes to keep it cold for longer. The cold temperature makes it a refreshing drink that's perfect for the summer months.
Tip: Make A Large Batch
Why make just one glass of Arnold Palmer when you can make a large batch? Making a large batch allows you to have the drink on hand whenever you need it. You can make it ahead of time and store it in the fridge for a few days, making it a convenient drink for parties or gatherings.

Conclusion

Making the perfect Arnold Palmer is all about finding the right balance between tea and lemonade. With the tips provided in this article, you can create a refreshing and delicious drink that's perfect for any occasion. Remember to experiment with different flavors and ratios until you find the perfect combination that suits your taste. Cheers to Arnold Palmer, the man who inspired this legendary drink!
